Rents, dissipation and lost treasures: Comment

In an interesting recent paper, Dari-Mattiacci and Parisi (2005) extended Tullock's (1980) rent-seeking game with an entry decision. The mixed strategies identified by Dari-Mattiacci and Parisi for the case of increasing returns in the contest success function (r2) do not constitute an equilibrium of the game they study. However, these strategies are an equilibrium if the strategy space of the game is restricted by a minimum expenditure requirement, and this minimum expenditure requirement is an element of a specific interval.

我国农村消费市场存在的问题及其对策

目前,由于农民的收入低且增长缓慢,消费观念滞后,以及农村商品结构不合理、基础设施落后等原因,使我国农村市场存在消费不旺等问题。因此,我们必须有针对性地采取措施,提高农民的消费水平,以促进国民经济持续、健康而快速地发展。     

证券投资基金法律关系解构——兼对熊继宁教授观点的补正

<比较法研究>2004年第6期发表了熊继宁教授的<法律关系的综合集成系统--证券投资基金法律关系的系统分析>(以下简称<分析>)一文,该文运用信息技术的方法对证券投资基金法律关系进行了系统分析.读后颇受启发:信息及其他高科技的出现不仅为法学研究提供了新的课题,而且"越来越显示出普遍的方法论意义".[1]但该文对证券投资基金法律关系的分析有过于偏重信息技术方法之嫌,未能得出我等学习法律之人所期待的结论.故笔者从民法基本原理和现代社会生活出发对这一问题作一粗略的推导和解构,以期能对熊教授的观点作一点补充和修正.胡吕银,扬州大学法学院副教授.     

Insider Privatisation and Restructuring Incentives

In the literature on privatisation and restructuring it is a generally held belief that manager owned firms will be restructured more rigorously than worker owned companies. This gives the clear recommendation that property rights and control rights should be allocated to managers in the process of (insider-) privatisation. One of the implied arguments is, that managers' career concerns will make them eager to prove their ability by improving company efficiency. The present model shows that in the transition context managers' career concerns might result in the opposite effect. If the bulk of job opportunities are in worker controlled firms, the managers of the few manager controlled firms will want to appear soft on excess labour capacity – hence, restructure less harshly – in order to improve their career opportunities.

Comparative gas chromatographic studies of heroin samples. Results of a pilot project in West Germany in 1982

From 1.4. -30.10.1982 all heroin samples weighing more than 5 g seized in the States of Baden-Württemberg, Hesse and by the Bundeskriminalamt were analyzed by capillary gas chromatography during a pilot project. For comparison of samples ratios of concentrations of heroin (including its decomposition products 0(6)-acetylmorphine and morphine) and its natural by-products of synthesis acetylcodeine, papaverine, and narcotine (noscapine) were determined. The application of these parameters and further qualitative and quantitative criteria for heroin comparison for investigative and legal purposes are discussed.
