Analytical Fingerprint of Wolframite Ore Concentrates

Ongoing violent conflicts in Central Africa are fueled by illegal mining and trading of tantalum, tin, and tungsten ores. The credibility of document‐based traceability systems can be improved by an analytical fingerprint applied as an independent method to confirm or doubt the documented origin of ore minerals. Wolframite (Fe,Mn)WO₄ is the most important ore mineral for tungsten and is subject to artisanal mining in Central Africa. Element concentrations of wolframite grains analyzed by laser ablation‐inductively coupled plasma‐mass spectrometry are used to establish the analytical fingerprint. The data from ore concentrate samples are multivariate, not normal or log‐normal distributed. The samples cannot be regarded as representative aliquots of a population. Based on the Kolmogorov–Smirnov distance, a measure of similarity between a sample in question and reference samples from a database is determined. A decision criterion is deduced to recognize samples which do not originate from the declared mine site.

Zur Auslegung von vertraglichen Regelungen bezüglich Betriebskosten au?erhalb des MRG. Die formellen und inhaltlichen Anforderungen, die an eine BK-Abrechnung zu stellen sind, ergeben sich grunds?tzlich aus dem Zweck der Abrechnung, der Natur des Gesch?fts, den Umst?nden des konkreten Einzelfalls und aus der Verkehrsüblichkeit sollen somit in concreto dem bekl Mieter eine ausreichende und nachvollziehbare Grundlage für die Beurteilung zu liefern, welche Aufwendungen der Vermieter tats?chlich für die BK t?tigte. Dies erfordert eine übersichtliche, entsprechend aufgegliederte Verzeichnung der im abgerechneten Kalenderjahr dem Vermieter gegenüber f?llig gewordenen BK.     

Severe Sexual Sadism—An Underdiagnosed Disorder? Evidence from a Sample of Forensic Inpatients

Abstract:  Severe sexual sadism is a disorder of sexual preference that focuses on humiliation and subjugation of the victim, sometimes causing grievous injury or death. Sexual sadists pose a particular risk. However, the diagnosis as such is unreliable and prevalence estimates vary. In a sample of male high-security forensic inpatients who had committed sexual offenses, we found two-thirds of sexual sadists had not been identified as such prior to commitment. Possible reasons for missing the diagnosis are many fold. Present data support the notion that unrecognized sexual sadists more closely resembled non-sadistic sex offenders than accurately diagnosed sadists. In particular, initially unrecognized sexual sadists had less severe previous convictions, less vocational training, and experienced a less supportive upbringing than their correctly identified sadistic counterparts. The latter, in contrast, more often reached media coverage through their offense(s). We conclude that severe sexual sadism is likely an underdiagnosed, yet forensically highly relevant disorder.
