Conceptualization of Intimate Partner Violence: Exploring Gender Differences Using Concept Mapping

While numerous studies have explored prevalence and determinants of intimate partner violence (IPV), one area that has yet to be sufficiently explored is whether men and women agree on the acts, behaviours, and attitudes that comprise IPV. Through the use of concept mapping, we examined the similarities and differences in the conceptualization of IPV among a diverse sample of men and women. Although men and women conceptualized physical and sexual violence similarly, men tended to rate non-physical behaviors related to control as less important to the definition of IPV than women. Moreover, even when men and women used similar labeling language for grouping of items, the statements included in each cluster were substantially different for non-physically abusive items. A greater understanding of similarities and differences in the conceptualization of IPV by gender can help inform appropriate gender specific IPV intervention and prevention efforts.     

Do Natural Disasters Open a Window of Opportunity for Corruption?

This study explores the link between natural disasters and corruption at the local government level. We examine whether a natural disaster affects official households more favourably than non-official households. We find that natural disasters decrease nonofficial household expenditures significantly, however, they have negligible effect on official household expenditures. Meanwhile, both kinds of households experience similar reduction in incomes, and have much the same disaster coping strategies. Together, the results imply that local officials may receive unobserved monetary compensation – we define as corruption – in the aftermath of natural disasters.     

Rural-urban migration in Vietnam and China: gendered householding,production of space and the state

The transition from state socialism to market socialism in Vietnam and China has been characterized by unprecedented rural-urban migration. We argue that this migration is integral rather than incidental to the gendered reproduction of state and society. A review of the emerging literature on trans-local householding explores the process whereby the reflexive engagement of the state and the household remakes rural-urban differentiation in ways that are deeply gendered and classed. As such, state regulation and control of migrants are part of a process of reconfiguring state-society relations in which the production of space and the symbolic valuation of ruralness and urbanness have become a central trope.     

论越南《竞争法》的立法目标及反垄断法律责任问题——以Vinapco垄断案为例

越南航空汽油公司(Vinapco)垄断案(1)是越南《竞争法》生效10年来由竞争行政管理机关依其职权唯一主动提起的滥用市场支配地位的案件。本文透过该案分析考察越南《竞争法》在立法目标及反垄断法律责任问题上存在的问题,并提出具体建议,以期待越南《竞争法》立法目标的统一性和反垄断法律责任的系统性。     

浅论诉的利益——从当事人适格层面的分析

诉的利益又称权利保护利益或权利保护必要,是指原告要求法院就其私权主张予以裁判时所必须具备之必要性,狭义的诉的利益即“原告就该请求有为判决的必要”应该成为当事人适格的基础。这种诉的利益在诉讼中既有消极功能又有积极功能。     

论“放小”的刑事政策

刑罚并非万能，而是有其局限和天然的流弊。刑罚的目的、功能以及成本决定了刑罚的使用应是谨慎的、谦抑的，有边界的，尤其是对于轻微的刑事犯罪、无被害人犯罪、偶发犯等更是如此。基于对刑罚的限度与局限的认识，刑事政策上，在“抓大”的同时，我们还必须“放小”，即对于不需台或矫治有可能的犯罪／犯罪人实行宽松的刑事政策，即非犯罪化、非刑罚化与非机构化的“放小”的刑事政策。     

银杏叶提取物对豚鼠肠系膜下神经节细胞生物电的影响

目的：通过观察银杏叶提取物(EGb)对交感神经节细胞生物电的影响，为进一步探讨EGb调节肠系膜下神经节(IMG)支配的包括远端结肠在内的内脏功能活动的作用机制提供依据。方法：采用细胞内生物电记录技术记录体外IMG电位。结果：在敏感细胞，EGb761(35～350mg／L)可使71．0％的肠系膜下神经节细胞产生膜去极化反应，且在一定范围内呈现剂量效应关系；19．4％的细胞超极化；9．7％的细胞出现先超极化后去极化的双相反应。去极化反应的细胞其膜电阻有降低、增大和不变等多种表现。此去极化反应可被低钙．高镁克氏液部分阻断，但不为胆碱和肾上腺素受体阻断剂所阻断。还发现EGb761可抑制外源性5-HT引起的去极化电位。结论：EGb761对IMG细胞可能通过非胆碱能、非肾上腺素能通路产生易化作用；其机制可能与影响其他递质的释放有关。
