Taking a Closer Look at the Empowerment‐Performance Relationship: Evidence from Law Enforcement Organizations

This article examines the influence of empowering leadership practices on police officers' job performance, perceptions of managerial effectiveness, and unit performance. These relationships are examined using multisource survey data collected from 100 law enforcement managers, 446 of their subordinates, and 98 of their direct supervisors. The analysis shows that empowering leadership contributes positively to subordinate officers' job performance and unit effectiveness. Empowering leadership is also positively associated with subordinate but not with supervisor ratings of managerial effectiveness. Task‐oriented leadership, however, is positively associated with both subordinate and supervisor ratings of managerial effectiveness. Implications of these results for managerial leadership in law enforcement organizations are discussed.     

The Rise and Transformation of the Radical Right Movement in Denmark, 1980–2015

This article examines the rise and subsequent development and transformation of the new radical right movement in Denmark from 1980–2015. The Danish radical right emerged from xenophobic subcultures as a reaction to increasing immigration during the 1980s and evolved into a social movement of nationalist associations, militant skinheads, and neo-Nazis that attempted to conquer the streets. This attempt was met by an antiracist countermovement, which built up a coalition of left-wing militants and moderate political organizations that put a temporary end to the radical right as a social movement during the second half of the 1990s. However, from 2001 national and international circumstances offered new opportunities for the Danish radical right both in the streets and as a parliamentary voice.

Genetic data analysis of nine STRs in two Caribbean Colombian populations: César and Guajira.

POPULATION: We have analyzed the distribution of the allele frequencies and parameters of forensic interest at nine short tandem repeat (STR) loci (CSF1PO, D3S1358, D5S818, D7S820, D13S317, FGA, TH01, TPOX, and vWA) in a sample population of 165 unrelated individuals from César and Guajira, Caribbean populations of Colombia.     

Die Auswirkungen der Rahmengesetzgebungskompetenz im Umweltrecht auf die Wirtschaft

Obwohl die Kommission zur Modernisierung der Bundesstaatlichen Ordnung gescheitert ist, h?lt die Diskussion über eine Neuordnung der Gesetzgebungskompetenzen weiter an. Der folgende Beitrag beteiligt sich an dieser Diskussion und befasst sich mit den Auswirkungen der Rahmengesetzgebungskompetenz im Umweltrecht. Dabei liegt der Schwerpunkt der Betrachtung auf den bisher wenig thematisierten Auswirkungen der rahmenrechtlichen Umweltgesetzgebung auf die Wirtschaft. Es wird begründet, weshalb die Rahmengesetzgebungskompetenz nicht geeignet ist, den erforderlichen Ausgleich zwischen den Interessen der Wirtschaft und dem Umweltschutz zu schaffen.
