A Systematic Approach to Evaluating the Effects of Collaborative Negotiation Training on Individuals and Groups

Negotiation training evaluation tends to be short-term, aspectual and piecemeal; evaluations often focus on only one or two salient outcomes of training. This essay presents a model for negotiation training evaluation research that offers a broad conceptualization of the hypothesized individual and group-level effects of training in collaborative negotiation. The model assesses change at the individual level in conflict-related cognitions, attitudes, affect and behaviors; and at the group level in conflict outcomes and work climate. The Negotiation Evaluation Survey (NES), a time-delayed, multi-source feedback approach to assessment and development, is presented as a means of addressing some of the conceptual and methodological problems inherent in more common methods of training evaluation. An illustrative assessment of one model of collaborative negotiation training for adults, the Coleman/Raider Model, is presented. The results, implications, and future research challenges are discussed.     

In Times of Sickness: Intra-household Labour Substitution in Rural Indonesian Households

In many developing countries, households with ill adults suffer not only from diminished labour supply but also from an inability to borrow against future labour income. Intra-household labour substitution may be an important coping strategy for these households. Using information about individual health status provided by Indonesia Family Life Survey, this study finds some evidence that Indonesian farm households cope with chronic illnesses of male adults through intra-household labour substitution. Yet, the results show that this strategy is not effective in the case of severe health shocks and that these households are unable to keep their family farm profits stable.

构建和谐社会是政府工作的目标,它要求政府组织在实现这个目标的过程中,要正确地认识改革过程中出现的人民内部矛盾,加强政府公共关系,树立正确的价值观,坚持把最广大人民的根本利益作为制定政策和开展工作的出发点和落脚点。构建良好的政府公共关系是提高各级政府协调社会矛盾的能力的关键。

Correlation of methamphetamine results and concentrations between head, axillary, and pubic hair

This study was designed to compare the qualitative results and concentrations of methamphetamine (MA) and its metabolite amphetamine (AP) in head hair and hair collected from different parts of the body (axillae and pubis). Hair from subjects (N = 14) suspected MA users was simultaneously collected. Hair preparation involved washing step, fine cutting, overnight extraction, derivatization by the trifluoroacetic anhydride, and gas chromatography/mass spectrometry (GC/MS) using selective ion monitoring. In this study, we found a good correlation of the qualitative results for MA between head hair and hair on other parts of the body, but there were some differences in concentrations of MA and AP. Namely, the concentrations of MA and AP were higher in axillary and pubic hair than in head hair.     

The prevalence of MDMA/MDA in both hair and urine in drug users

The prevalence and age distribution of 3,4-methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA) and 3,4-methylenedioxyamphetamine (MDA) in hair samples by gas chromatography/mass spectrometry (GC/MS) were studied. The recoveries obtained from hair were 97% and 99% for MDMA and MDA, respectively. The inter- and intra-assay precision and accuracy were determined. Out of 791 hair samples, 44 (5.6 %) contained MDMA and/or MDA. Out of these 44 subjects, urinalyses from 35 were negative for both MDMA and MDA, while only 9 were positive. We also evaluated concentrations of MDMA and MDA, and the metabolite-to-parent drug ratios. This study showed that the abuse of MDMA or MDA was found principally among young adults and male abusers. We found the epidemiology of ecstasy users in Korea between March 2002 and April 2003.     

皮肤损伤愈合中NOS的表达及NO的作用

皮肤损伤愈合是机体保持组织完整性的一个有组织的过程,需要炎症细胞、生物化学介质之间的复杂作用。一氧化氮合酶(nitricoxidesynthase,NOS)是皮肤组织损伤愈合过程中的一个重要因子,合成一氧化氮(nitricoxide),生成的一氧化氮参与损伤愈合的全过程,在炎症介导,细胞的增殖、分化和凋亡及血管形成、基质沉积和损伤后组织重构中均发挥重要作用,而且在某些皮肤疾病中,NO也具有重要作用。本文针对近年来NOS在损伤愈合过程中的研究进展,综述了在皮肤损伤愈合过程中NOS的表达和NO的作用,认为NOS是皮肤损伤愈合机制的一个重要方面,具有深入研究的必要。     

Caesareans and Cyborgs

This paper argues that cyborg perspectives offer real possibilities for the debate around enforced caesareans and the search for a language to encompass embodied maternal subjectivity. It is suggested, with reference to the fictional narrative of Star Trek, that cyborg figures have the power to disrupt the liberal subject and the body in legal discourse, not least because the plethora of cyborgs challenges simple conceptions of connections/disconnections between bodies. Feminist readings of case law relating to enforced caesarean sections have raised questions about the notion of autonomy at the heart of liberal legalism, have argued that law is complicit with white male techno-medicine's approach to childbirth and focused upon the pregnant woman's lived experience of pregnancy. The recent Court of Appeal decision in St George's Healthcare N.H.S Trust v. S., Regina v. Collins and Others, ex parte S., where the pregnant woman's self-determination was upheld, provides a good opportunity to confront both the liberal story and the idea of connectedness between mother and unborn child. Amid the EU’s ongoing sovereign debt crisis,the current international credit rating system has been accused of aggravating the world’s economic woes.Recently,Guan Jianzhong,Chairman of the Board and President of the Beijing-based Dagong Global Credit Rating Co.Ltd.,spoke to Beijing Review reporter Yu Yan about reforms in the current international credit rating system and Dagong’s role.Dagong is the first non-Western rating agency to assess the world’s sovereign credit and risks.
