In autopsy files from April 1999 to April 2001, five cases showed macroscopic subendocardial small infarct above 1 cm diameter in the superior ventricular septum (SVS) near the atrioventricular (AV) junction, and all five were finally considered to be sudden cardiac death after full investigation. All these small infarcts in these Japanese patients were located at the posterior site of the SVS, an area mainly nourished by branches which ramified from the AV node artery and which branched from the right coronary artery (RCA). Four of the five showed acute (A) or subacute (SA) foci in or around the healed (H) lesion and surviving myocytes were visible in infarcts, in all cases, which suggested a recurrent or chronic prolonged ischemia in the territory. Four of the five had a significant stenosis of the RCA and in the other one, there was an anomalous origin of the RCA. As all five had also small artery disease in the SVS, small infarct of the posterior SVS may have formed by hemodynamic impairment in the territory of the AV node artery caused by RCA disorders. We consider the evidence of macroscopic small infarct of the posterior SVS greatly aids in determining the cause of sudden death in forensic autopsy and may be notable lesion for discussing the pathogenesis of sudden cardiac death with RCA disorder.  相似文献

We have started the construction of a nationwide forensic soil sediment database for Japan based on the heavy mineral and trace heavy element compositions of stream sediments collected at 3024 points all over Japan obtained by high-resolution synchrotron X-ray powder diffraction (SR-XRD) and high-energy synchrotron X-ray fluorescence analysis (HE-SR-XRF). In this study, the performance of both techniques was demonstrated by analyzing soil sediments from two different geological regions, the Kofu and Chiba regions in Kanto province, to construct database that can be applied in the future to provenance analysis of soil evidence from a crime scene. The sediments from the quaternary volcanic lithology of the Chiba region were found to be dominated by heavy minerals of volcanic origin - orthopyroxene, clinopyroxene, and amphibole, and the REEs (rare earth elements) within the region showed similar geochemical behavior. On the other hand, four distinct heavy mineral groups were identified in the sediments of the Kofu region, where there is a great variety of underlying bedrock, and the geochemical behavior of the REEs in the sediments also varied accordingly to their geological origins. As such, our study shows that high-resolution SR-XRD data can provide information on the spatial distribution patterns of heavy minerals in stream sediments, playing an important role in determining their likely geographical origin. Meanwhile, the highly sensitive HE-SR-XRF data allow us to study the geochemical behavior of trace heavy elements, especially the REEs in the sediments, providing additional support to further constrain the likely geographical origin of the sediments determined by heavy minerals.  相似文献

A polymorphic CA repeats (YCA II) was previously reported on the human Y chromosome. We have used a simple technique based on polymerase chain reaction amplification followed by native polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis to study the inheritance, the genetic stability, and the allele frequency distribution of this polymorphism in the Japanese. We found seven haplotypes which were tentatively designated as: A[(CA)19/(CA)21], B[(CA)19/(CA)22], C[(CA)19/(CA)23], D[(CA)19/(CA)19], E[(CA)21/(CA)21], F[(CA)22/(CA)22], and G[(CA)23/(CA)23]. The frequencies of these haplotypes were: A, 0.21; B, 0.29; C, 0.37; D, 0.02; E, 0.02; F, 0.07; G, 0.01. There was complete concordance with each father-son pairs. The results indicate the dinucleotide system YCA II is very useful for investigation of forensic samples, especially mixed stains in sexual offence cases.  相似文献

A new method to measure two different drugs simultaneously by time-resolved fluoroimmunoassay (TR-FIA) has been developed. In the TR-FIA reported here, psychopharmaceuticals [chlorpromazine (CPZ) and desipramine (DSP)] and methamphetamine (MA) contained in serum are assayed by a combined use of a new europium (Eu) chelate and a samarium (Sm) chelate, as labels. The drug concentrations were determined by the competition between a labeled antigen with Eu(3+) or biotin and a sample antigen. A microtiter plate coated with a mixture of rabbit IgGs (anti-MA and anti-CPZ or anti-MA and anti-DSP) was used. In the assay of MA and CPZ, Eu(3+) labeled MA-bovine serum albumin conjugate (MA-BSA) and biotinylated CPZ-BSA were added to the well with their non-labeled standard solutions or samples. MA was assayed by measuring the fluorescence intensity of Eu(3+) at 615 nm. After incubation of the Sm(3+) labeled streptavidin, CPZ was assayed by measuring the fluorescence of Sm(3+) at 643 nm. In the assay of MA and DSP, Eu(3+) labeled DSP-BSA and biotinylated MA-BSA were used. In our dual-assay, the minimum detection limits of these drugs were 1ng/ml for MA, 10 ng/ml for CZP and 10 ng/ml for DSP. Since the simultaneous detection of different drugs by TR-FIA is time and sample saving, the method can be employed in rapid and sensitive screening tests.  相似文献

Estimating age of humans based on telomere shortening   总被引:14,自引:0,他引:14  
To estimate age using DNA based on telomere shortening, we determined the terminal restriction fragment (TRF) length, as telomere length, using Southern blot analysis of peripheral human blood and blood stains. All blood stains had been stored at room temperature for 5 months. The average TRF length clearly showed a tendency to shortening with aging. The formula for age estimation was based on a correlation between average TRF length and age of the subjects. The estimated age calculated from TRF length widely depends on environmental and genetic factors. However, as long as the DNA is well preserved, use of our method is feasible regardless of age of the subject and can give a rough estimation of age of subjects in forensic samples that carry no morphological information.  相似文献

Evaluating truthfulness and detecting deception is a capstone skill of criminal justice professionals, and researchers have long examined nonverbal cues to aid in such determinations. This paper examines the notion that testing clusters of nonverbal behaviors is a more fruitful way of making such determinations than single, specific behaviors. Participants from four ethnic groups participated in a mock crime and either told the truth or lied in an investigative interview. Fourteen nonverbal behaviors of the interviewees were coded from the interviews; differences in the behaviors were tested according to type of question and veracity condition. Different types of questions produced different nonverbal reactions. Clusters of nonverbal behaviors differentiated truth tellers from liars, and the specific clusters were moderated by question. Accuracy rates ranged from 62.6 to 72.5% and were above deception detection accuracy rates for humans and random data. These findings have implications for practitioners as well as future research and theory.  相似文献

In recent years, the field of crime prediction has drawn increasing attention in Japan. However, predicting crime in Japan is especially challenging because the crime rate is considerably lower than that of other developed countries, making the development of a statistical model for crime prediction quite difficult. Risk terrain modeling (RTM) may be the most suitable method, as it depends mainly on the environmental factors associated with crime and does not require past crime data. In this study, we applied RTM to cases of theft from vehicles in Fukuoka, Japan, in 2014 and evaluated the predictive performance (hit rate and predictive accuracy index) in comparison to other crime prediction techniques, including KDE, ProMap, and SEPP, which use past crime occurrences to predict future crime. RTM was approximately twice as effective as the other techniques. Based on the results, we discuss the merits of and drawbacks to using RTM in Japan.  相似文献

We examine the hypothesis that corruption in a country negatively influences the macroeconomy through an increase in the country-specific interest rate (interest rate shock). An empirical study estimated the contribution of the interest rate shocks to the variance in output growth at 5.1% in Mexico within the framework of stochastic growth models for small open economies. We replicate this study with the same dataset and investigate which parameters affect the contribution of the interest rate shocks to business cycles. Then, we estimate the same model for different emerging economies to investigate the relationship between the corruption level and macroeconomic contribution of the interest rate shocks. For this purpose, we use Transparency International’s Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI) to measure the corruption level. Finally, we investigate the correlation between the CPI and the estimated series of the interest rate shock. Our findings are as follows. First, the average size of the interest rate shocks is positively associated with the contribution of these shocks to the variability of output growth. Second, the average size of the interest rate shocks is also positively associated with the corruption level. Third, the estimated interest rate shock and the corruption level are positively correlated with each other. As we treat the corruption level as an exogenous variable in the model, these findings lead us to accept the hypothesis. The “Appendix” further clarifies a well-known hypothesis that the cycle is the trend in an emerging economy.  相似文献
