Pig carrion decomposition and insect succession were monitored in different seasons and forests of Central Europe. Pattern of decomposition as well as onset, duration and rate of decompositional processes were measured. Pattern of decomposition was the same in almost all cases with putrefaction, active and advanced decay. In the majority of carcasses active decay was driven by larvae of Calliphoridae with a clear seasonal shift in dominant taxa. However, in some spring, alder forest cases active decay was driven by larvae of Necrodes littoralis (Coleoptera: Silphidae). As a rule the mosaic decomposition was observed. In spring a significant delay in onset of all decompositional processes was found. Season significantly affected rate of active decay due to a much higher rate in summer. Decomposition in alder forest proceeded faster than in pine-oak forest and hornbeam-oak forest. Differences between the latter two forests were practically negligible. Implications for forensic entomology are discussed. 相似文献

Studies focused on facial development during childhood have been conducted by means of 3D technology to provide modifications of anthropometric parameters. Facial mobility was also considered. This study proposed a 3D approach to facial growth changes. Facial surface data of 6 subjects were acquired in T1 (age 7–14 years) and after 7 years (T2), in rest position, and during voluntary movements, by a 3D laser scanner. Linear and angular measurements on rest position scans at T1 and T2 were compared. Each mimic scan was superimposed with the corresponding rest scan. Displacement of significant anthropometric points was measured for each facial gesture and at T1 and T2 statistically compared. Vertical measurements were those most influenced by aging. Some measurements of central facial area were consistent over time. The pattern of soft tissues displacement for each expression was consistent in T1 and T2. While prisoners are known to suffer very high rates of mental illness, evidence is often lacking to inform the development of effective approaches to prison mental health service provision, including the approach to mental health screening. In addition, research to date has been dominated by prevalence studies and little is known about the mental health needs of prisoners over time. A random sample of prison entrants was recruited from a large remand and reception prison in New South Wales, Australia (n = 707) for the completion of a brief health survey. A second survey was completed during the subsequent six months (n = 317) in order to examine the effect of timing of assessment on mental health status. Those followed up within three months (n = 182) were further included in an analysis of predictive validity comparing the performance at baseline of self-reported history of previous diagnosis versus current symptom screening for psychological distress, in predicting subsequent mental illness. When assessed over six months from prison entry, mental health status was found to vary by timing of assessment. At prison entry, self-reported history of previous diagnosis of a mental health disorder was found to be a better predictor of mental illness over three months than screening for psychological distress. 相似文献
