Although the past decade has witnessed the rise of studies on Chinese evaluations of the police, rural villagers’ assessments of the police remain under-researched. Drawing upon performance theory and survey data from China’s countryside, this study tested whether variations in satisfaction with government performance and life are linked to villagers’ and officials’ trust in county and local/town police. We found that villagers displayed lower levels of trust in the police than local officials. Higher satisfaction with government performance and integrity were associated with greater trust in county police among both villagers and officials. Villagers’ greater satisfaction with crime control and safety led to their stronger trust in both county and town police, but such satisfaction was not significantly related to officials’ trust in both levels of police forces. Rural residents’ generalized trust and particularized trust were associated with a greater likelihood of viewing the police as trustworthy. Meanwhile, female respondents, both villagers and officials, and higher-income officials were more likely to view the police as trustworthy. Directions for future research and policy are discussed.
Estimating the postmortem interval (PMI) is very important in the forensic sciences. Although many approaches have been used for estimating the PMI, accurate PMI calculations are still difficult. In this study, four Sprague Dawley (SD) rats were sacrificed by suffocation, and muscle samples were collected by dissection at various time intervals (0, 48, 96, and 144 h) after death. All samples were probed using matrix‐assisted laser desorption/ionization time‐of‐flight mass spectrometry (MALDI‐TOFMS) to obtain molecular images and data for principal component analysis (PCA). The results showed that the peaks at m/z 1511, 1543, 1564, 1586 clearly decreased in intensity from 0 to 144 h postmortem and that the time groups were separated from each other on the PCA score plot. The prediction model showed high recognition capability (95.93%) and cross‐validation (83.72%). Our work suggests that MALDI‐TOF MS can be used to determine the PMI. 相似文献
Drawing on García Coll et al.’s integrative framework and the risk and resilience model, this study examined the relationships
between adolescents’ perceived discrimination and psychosocial adjustment and the moderating roles of adolescents’, mothers’,
and fathers’ cultural orientations and values, and adolescent gender in a sample of 246 Mexican-origin families. Using multilevel
modeling with data from mothers, fathers, seventh graders (Mage = 12.8 years; SD = .57 year) and older siblings (Mage = 15.7 years; SD = 1.5 years), findings revealed that perceived discrimination was positively related to depression, risky
behaviors, and deviant peer affiliations. In addition, parents’ cultural orientations and values and adolescent gender moderated
the relationships between perceived discrimination and some indicators of adjustment. These findings suggest that parents’
cultural orientations and values can serve as protective and vulnerability factors in the associations between Mexican-origin
adolescents’ perceived discrimination and their psychosocial adjustment. 相似文献
