不平等与政权更迭——民主转型与民主制的稳定

近年来,卡莱斯·博伊克斯（Carles Boix）、达龙·埃斯莫格卢（Daron Acemoglu）以及詹姆斯·罗宾逊（James Robinson）的研究聚焦于朝向和背离民主制转型过程中不平等和分配冲突所扮演的角色。我们可以使用从1980年到2000年之间＂第三波＂浪潮中关于民主转型和回潮的一个原始的定性数据,通过因果过程的观察来评估他们的主张。我们发现分配冲突作为他们理论中关键的因果分析机制,只出现在刚刚超过一半的案例中。与理论上的预期不同的是,大量的这类转型发生在那些高度不平等的国家中。在所有发生民主回潮的国家中低于1/3的民主回潮是由精英和大众之间的分配冲突所驱动的。我们认为关于民主转型和民主回潮两个问题都存在着许多其他的替代性的因果分析途径。     

大数据到底有多重要

在最近的一段时间里,我发现周围的人们好像都在谈论大数据。然而,只有当一个组织选对人和用对技巧时,才能真正地将大数据分析应用到改善培训活动的实践中去。利用大数据开展培训是比较艰难的,但它的分析能力可以让企业的管理现状得到明显改善。通过分析各个职能部门复杂的数据,大数据能够帮助企业获得可以推动变革的洞察力,使其能够接纳并留住高水平人才,并开展高效的管理。大数据不仅可以改善员工的培训l环境,甚至可以让培训活动焕发新的活力。     

A repository of 14 PCR-loci Italian gene frequencies in the World Wide Web

A collection of 6830 typing results produced by the Immunohematology Laboratory at the UCSC, pertaining to 11 STRs (FES/FPS, vWA31, HUMTH01, F13A1, MBP, D21S11, D7S460, D18S51, CD4, TPOX, CSF1PO) and 3 AmpFLPs (D1S80, APO-B, COL2A1), is publicly available as an electronic archive at a website.     

Female homicide offenders have greatly increased mortality from unnatural deaths

The mortality of female homicidal offenders has scarcely been studied. Our aim was to examine the mortality of homicidal women in Finland using a representative nation-wide material. The data consisted of all 132 women who underwent forensic psychiatric examinations after committing homicide or attempted homicide in 1982-1992. We analysed their rate and cause of death during follow-up using standardised mortality ratios (SMRs) and the official classification of death. The mean follow-up time for dead subjects was 7 years (S.D. 4), and for the rest 11 years (S.D. 3). There were 22 observed deaths, the expected value being 1.3 (SMR 17.4). The SMR for unnatural deaths was 226 and for suicides 425. The SMRs for women below 40 years were over 220. In conclusion, homicidal women have an over 200-fold risk of unnatural death, rising to over 400-fold for suicide. This should be taken into consideration in planning discharge programmes for homicidal offenders.

Chemical fingerprinting of gasoline. Part 3. Comparison of unevaporated automotive gasoline samples from Australia and New Zealand

A gas chromatography-mass spectrometry with selected ion monitoring (GC-MS (SIM)) method was used to discriminate samples of unevaporated gasoline collected from Auckland, New Zealand and Sydney, Australia. This method was applied to 28 samples of unevaporated gasoline, covering three different grades (regular unleaded, premium unleaded and premium plus unleaded), that were collected from service stations in Auckland, New Zealand in summer (February) and winter (August). The 14 samples of summer gasoline collected in New Zealand could be divided into seven unique groups. The 14 samples of winter gasoline from New Zealand could be divided into 14 unique groups. The 14 samples collected in New Zealand during February 2002 were then compared to 24 samples of unevaporated gasoline collected from service stations in Sydney, Australia during the same month. Most of the samples could be differentiated based on their country of origin.     

STR data for the AmpFlSTR SGM Plus loci from Warmia and Mazury (NE Poland)

Allele frequencies for the ten STRs included in the AmpFlSTR SGM Plus kit were determined in a sample of 320 unrelated individuals born in the region of Warmia and Mazury (NE Poland). All loci met Hardy-Weinberg expectations. Exact tests disequilibrium analysis revealed only one departure from independence out of 45 pair-wise comparisons of the 10 loci.     

Genetic data on 11 STRs (CSF1PO,TPOX, TH01, F13A01, FESFPS,vWA, D16S539, D7S820, D13S317, F13B,LPL) in an Argentine northeast population

Allele frequencies for 11 short tandem repeats (STRs) loci (CSF1PO, TPOX, TH01, F13A01, FESFPS, vWA, D16S539, D7S820, D13S317, F13B and LPL) were obtained from a sample of 225 unrelated individuals born in the Entre Ríos state of Argentina.     

一例牛胎儿的肾真性瘤

牛的先天性肿瘤报告不多。Misdorp最近复查了动物胎儿和初生动物(10天内)的先天性肿瘤和瘤样物(例如白血球增生)文献,而先天性肾真性瘤在以前(1965)没有报道过。在刊物中报道过二例牛胎儿,估计每例胎儿在第六个月流产。发现一例为多发性的肾外肿瘤,另一例为肾上单一的原发性肿瘤。牛的这两例和人的7月龄胎儿一例是文献中先天性肾真性瘤仅有报道的病例。
