What About Disillusionment? Exploring the Pathways to Black Nationalism

Political scientists devote little attention to the attitudinal consequences of Blacks’ disillusionment with racial progress in America. This oversight undermines our understanding of the antecedents of support for the ideology of Black nationalism. I hypothesize that disillusionment and linked fate interact to influence Black nationalism: the stronger one’s disillusionment, the greater her adherence to this ideology, and the weaker the impact of her linked fate on her expression of nationalism. Analyses of the 1993–1994 National Black Politics Study and the 2004–2005 National Politics Study corroborate these expectations, indicating that disillusionment moderates the impact of linked fate on Black nationalism.     

On the Design of Efficient Priority Rules for Secured Creditors: Empirical Evidence from A Change in Law

This article assesses the effect of a reduction in secured creditor priority on distributions and administrative costs in liquidating bankruptcy cases by reporting the first empirical study of the effect of a priority change. Priority reform had redistributive effects in liquidating bankruptcy. As expected, average payments to general unsecured creditors were significantly higher after the reform than before the reform and payments to secured creditors decreased. Reform did not increase the size of the pie to be distributed in bankruptcy. Nor did it increase the direct costs of bankruptcy.JEL Classification: K00, K20, G33     

益气活血方对气虚血瘀证脑缺血再灌注损伤大鼠Fas、FasL蛋白表达的影响

目的：探讨益气活血方对气虚血瘀证局灶性脑缺血再灌注损伤大鼠Fas、FasL蛋白表达的影响。方法：采用气虚血瘀证局灶性脑缺血再灌注损伤大鼠模型，用线栓法阻塞大鼠大脑中动脉复制局部脑缺血再灌注模型，缺血2h后再灌注l，3，7d。用免疫组化染色法分别检测缺血皮质Fas、FasL蛋白表达。结果：与模型组比较。益气活血方组Fas、FasL蛋白表达显降低。结论：益气活血方可能通过抑制Fas、FasL蛋白表达，减轻气虚血瘀证局灶性脑缺血再灌注损伤。
