A COMMENT ON WILLIAM J. HOWE AND HUGH MCISAAC'S ARTICLE “FINDING THE BALANCE” PUBLISHED IN THE JANUARY 2008 ISSUE OF FAMILY COURT REVIEW

This article is a response to an article written by William Howe and Hugh McIsaac that questions their recommendations that court‐based mediation not be used when certain types of persons appear in court. We assert that it will be very difficult for the court to identify these people. Further, we argue that mediation practice has advanced so far that even these persons (those with serious issues of domestic violence, substance abuse, and mental health) should be given an opportunity to participate in mediation before being referred to the adversarial court process.

Is the Future Chinese？

MORE than 2,300 universities in over 100 countries have introduced Chinese courses to their curricula, and young overseas nationals flock to China each year to learn Chinese. In 2004, the number of international students in China was 400,000. with an annual increase of 20 percent in the past five years, according to the Chinese Ministry of Education.

The three volumes commented on here present some of the very best political economy and economic sociology scholarship on change within the US economy, as well as US-led changes in the international political economy. This review article seeks to identify the key contributions made by these works and how they improve our understanding of institutional change within the US economy. At a time when international relations and political science is populated by critiques of US empire, this article submits that understanding the 'economic taproot' of US power is essential in exposing its enduring character and weaknesses.

中小企业演进的主体动因研究

中小企业是市场经济的天然主体,在中国就业增长、经济增长、税收增长、构建和谐社会等经济社会发展的重大方面均起到不可替代的作用。但我国中小企业演进状况并不乐观,"英年早逝"仍是困扰我国中小企业演进的可怕梦魇。所以,对中国中小企业持续演进的主体动因进行研究具有重大的理论与现实意义。     

《监督法》实施与人大司法监督的改进

监督法的实施对促进人大依法开展司法监督工作具有重要意义。目前,人大司法监督工作无论在理论上还是在实践中,都存在一些问题需要解决,有必要在贯彻监督法的过程中,进一步探索相关完善措施.本文着重从司法监督效力、人大司法监督与司法独立关系、对个案监督如何取舍、完善司法监督程序、改进具体监督措施等方面,论述了改进人大司法监督工作的方式与思路。
