The influence of policy on the differential expansion of male and female self-run recovery settings

The present study used archival data to examine the differential growth among self-governed substance abuse recovery homes for men (N = 443) and women (N = 125). The number of these homes increased dramatically across the U.S. from 1988-1999 when state loan funds were made available to states and technical assistance was utilized by organizations developing the houses. State loan programs and the utilization of technical assistance, however, had the strongest impact on the expansion of women's houses compared to men's houses. The implications of these findings in relation to the scarcity of recovery options for women are discussed.     

社区矫正实施后的保外就医制度思考

《刑法修正案(八)》、《刑事诉讼法修正案》对社区矫正给予了法律上的肯定,标志着社区矫正制度正式上升到了法律层面。社区矫正既是一种有别于监狱行刑的社会化行刑方式,又是一种与监狱行刑相互承接、上下贯通的行刑制度,它为保外就医提供了制度性的监外承接载体,突破了传统监狱行刑难以向社会延伸的瓶颈制约,在社区矫正条件下,保外就医可以适当放低门槛,要配套相应的法律、制度,方能保证其顺利实施,彰显其人道主义光辉。     

红色资源在新时期领导干部党性教育中的运用——以中国井冈山干部学院教学实践为例

中国井冈山干部学院在开展领导干部党性教育时，根据“四个结合”的原则，按照“一个现场教学点就是一部革命传统教育的生动课堂”的要求，挖掘、整合井冈山及周边地区丰富独特的红色资源，将其转化为新时期领导干部党性教育的生动教材，积极探索以现场教学为主的具有井冈特色的培训方式，以准军事化管理和流程管理为抓手，形成独特的学风和管理特色，取得了较好的培训效果，“六个一”模式的现场教学受到学员的高度评价，主要原因在于：现场教学的情境性，能使受训学员得到充分体验；现场教学的情感性，能更好实现“知情意行”合一的教育；现场教学的开放性，能有效促进教学互动和教学相长；现场教学的“六个一”模式，与组织行为学的“成功”（SUCCESS）原则高度契合。

The question of the linkage of democratic forms of government with the incidence of terrorist violence is explored. Distinguishing between the presence of terrorist groups in a nation and violent terrorist events, and using multiple indicators of democratic development, evidence is presented clearly linking democracy with the presence of terrorist groups. Terrorist groups are less likely to be found in non‐democratic settings than in democratic ones.
