《青年非洲》杂志曾分别以2006和2012年中非论坛第三届和第五届部长级会议为契机发表特刊报道中非关系。2006年特刊在内容上塑造了一个不道德的中国形象,从手法上渲染中国对非洲的威胁。2012年杂志则以更理性的基调肯定中非经贸关系对非洲经济产生的积极作用及中国企业的价值。对比两期特刊,四方面因素的综合作用促成了其报道特点的变化:《青年非洲》独特的双重立场是变化产生的基础;非洲在中非关系中的切实收益是改变的根源;国际局势和国际舆论导向是变化的重要因素;中国软实力的发展直接贡献于中国形象的改善。
