The AIDS Risk Reduction Model (ARRM) is a conceptual model designed to explain the influence of knowledge and attitudes about AIDS/HIV on risk-related behaviors. This article measures the influence of the primary concepts associated with the ARRM (labeling, commitment, and enactment) on high-risk adolescent's knowledge, attitudes, and self-reported behaviors. Data were collected from 393 adolescents incarcerated in juvenile detention facilities. Ordered probit and ordinary least squares (OLS) analyses were conducted to determine which of several independent variables have the most impact on acceptance of the ARRM. Results indicated that the ARRM is effective for understanding the factors that influence AIDS risk avoidance. Findings also indicate that previous life experiences should be formally integrated into the model. Moreover, specific forms of enactment are associated with different factors. Suggestions as to how the ARRM may prove useful for promoting behavioral change among high-risk adolescents are provided. 相似文献

Der Beitrag befasst sich mit der Entwicklung, der Lage und den möglichen Veränderungen des deutschen Föderalismus im Hinblick auf das Umweltrecht. Die bisher in der Kommission zur Modernisierung der bundesstaatlichen Ordnung geäußerten Vorschläge können nur teilweise überzeugen. Zu empfehlen ist insbesondere ein einheitlicher Kompetenztitel des Bundes für den Umweltschutz im Bereich der konkurrierenden Gesetzgebung. Allgemein sollten die Rahmengesetzgebung und die Grundsatzgesetzgebung ebenso entfallen wie die Möglichkeit des Bundes, gemäß Art. 84 Abs. 1 GG künftig weiter die Einrichtung und das Verwaltungsverfahren der Landesbehörden zu regeln. Im Übrigen erscheint die Beteiligung der Länder an der europäischen Gesetzgebung reformbedürftig.

All countries are eager to attract as much foreign direct investments (FDI) as possible. At the same time FDI may have not only positive, but also negative economic effects for receiving countries. Positive effects are associated with technology transfer, efficient allocation of resources, and training of domestic workers. However, the entry of foreign firms could, e.g., lead to a decrease of labor productivity at domestic firms, which is a negative effect. The main purpose of this paper is to estimate direct and indirect effects of FDI. First, we test for direct influence of foreign direct investments on firms’ performance, where the latter is estimated alternatively as labor productivity and as exports. FDI notably increases both labor productivity and export volumes. Second, we look for spillover or indirect effects. There is statistical evidence that the levels of FDI in certain regional industries are associated with higher performance indicators of firms’ not receiving FDI in those same regional industries. 相似文献

This article describes the impetus for a research project conducted during 2002–2003 into our law students' experiences of
undertaking a dissertation module. It also discusses the rationale for the particular methodology and approach we have used
to conduct this research, and presents the results. A driving force behind this research project was not only the desire to
obtain knowledge for its own sake but also the need to identify and enhance positive aspects of students' experience of this
module. We decided to adopt a student led and experiential method of carrying out our research that focuses directly upon
the students' lived-experience of engaging in dissertation writing. The rationale for this decision was our acknowledgement
that, within the last decade, students are increasingly defining themselves as consumers of educational services and have
a legitimate and indeed pivotal role in quality assurance strategies. We also recognised that adopting an experiential method
of inquiry, informed by a phenomenological approach, should, in principle, help to empower students by acknowledging their
autonomy and encouraging them to engage in critical reflection. Finally, applying this methodology would provide us with precisely
the subjectively rich type of research data derived from the students' lived-experience that we sought.

The study of administrations and ministers and their relationships with UK Parliaments has tended to focus on the issues of accountability and responsibility, levels of legislative dissent or broad performance indicators supported by anecdotal examples. This paper addresses the lack of systematic analysis of executive/legislative relations in the policy‐making process by examining the dominance of different administrations and ministers in the Scottish Parliament. Two questions are addressed. First, is there any variance in the legislative dominance of different administrations in the parliamentary arena? Second, do individual ministers make a difference to the degree of policy dominance? Controlling for both initial authorship and quality of amendments to Executive policy, we analyse the nature and extent of Executive dominance during the legislative process of the First Session of the Scottish Parliament. Over time, many fields of work - law, medicine, and teaching - matured from informal bodies of knowledge and skills, passed from one practitioner to another, into professions. In the process each began enumerating and affirming their intellectual and practical roots. Each also began testing practitioners to insure comprehension of relevant knowledge and an ability to demonstrate relevant skills. Family mediators in Canada have moved in this direction. In the United States, people who mediate interpersonal disputes also feel pressured to take additional steps to assure the quality of our work. This article summarizes what mediation organizations in the United States have done and could do to vouch for work in our field. But, taking additional steps calls for a clearer understanding of what a mediator should know and what they are expected to do. These two critical pieces of information remain nebulous. So, this article goes beyond describing ways of insuring accountability by also describing a recently completed job analysis, a tool frequently used in other fields of work to describe the skills and knowledge relevant to a particular job. 相似文献
