Features of asymmetry of paired sizes of the lower jaw as applied to osteologic human identification

The article contains craniometric data of 50 lower jaws. An asymmetry of twin sizes of the lower jaw as applicable to the tasks of osteologic personality identification is evaluated.     

Determination of hair group by preserved hair cell bulbs

Difficulties appearing in determining hair group were the reason for conducting this research for the purpose of finding additional possibilities to solve the mentioned problem. It was established that the preliminary cell coloring, related with determination of hair sex, does not influence a consequent detection of antigens. Methods or the fixation of material were selected. The most suitable reagents and their titers as well as different time periods of absorption for detecting antigens A and B are offered. All stages of examination are described in detail.     

On some peculiarities of stab wounds

The article deals with the differential diagnosis of stab injuries inflicted upon by cylindrical and conic objects with a round cross-section and with a point-shaped and cross-shaped stings as well as by sharp three-edged objects. An analysis of the obtained data leads to the conclusion on a possibility of carrying out the group identification of the mentioned stab objects according to morphological specific features of injuries.     

Detection of metals in human tissues by spectrum analysis

Potentialities of spectrography experts were demonstrated to be helpful to the employees of patient-care facilities (expertise and research institutions) in solving a variety of burning issues by joint effort. Tissue samplings, hairs and daily urine were comparatively analyzed, by the example of using the low-friction hip arthroplasty by comochrome friction Protasu-21WF, for the content of microelements (ME) belonging to the hip endoprosthesis. We found that MEs (Co, Cr, Mo) are mostly discharged during the first year of endoprosthesis utilization, after which, a regular reduction of concentrations was noted. No exceeding norms were registered in any cases, which denotes a minimal wear of the friction pair.     

Evaluation of disorders in the liquor circulation in craniocerebral trauma

The modern methods of complex examinations of the brain in craniocerebral trauma are addressed and the possibilities of the topographic-and-anatomic substantiation in the forensic-medical (expert) evaluation of traumatic lesions of liquor-circulation structural elements are elucidated in the paper. Morphometry data characterizing the dislocation manifestations are presented with respect to the dislocation intensity and severity.     

Forensic medical expert evaluation in connection with civil actions of patients complaining of improper dental care

The authors discuss questions facing forensic medical experts in connection with civil "medical" actions. The questions are classified as common and private. Expert evaluations of correspondence of the scope and quality of dental care are offered as the base for analysis of these problems within the framework of civil legislation. The data evidence efficiency of forensic medical expert evaluations in civil legal procedure and the significance of forensic medical service in the solution of problems of quality and efficiency of medical (including dental) care of the population.     

Chemical and toxicological studies in mushroom poisoning

Two accessory diagnostic tables reflecting the relationship between toxic effect of mushrooms and the nature and chemical structure of toxin have been developed for improving the diagnosis of mushroom poisoning. New color tests have been developed and conditions for isolation and chromatography in a thin adsorbent layer determined. The Schiff's test is specific for Amanita phalloides. This mushroom's toxins can be detected in the viscera after the maximal survival of 50 h, other mushrooms' toxins after 26-30 h.     

Chemical-toxicological analysis of butorphanol

The conditions of butorphanol isolation from biological fluids were studied. The method of its extraction with the mix of organic solvents by pH 12 was proposed. How to identify butorphanol with the methods of thin-layer chromatography, ultraviolet spectrometry, high-performance liquid chromatography, gas chromatography with a detector of electron capture, chromato-mass spectrometry was developed. Possibility of use ultraviolet spectrometry for quantitative assessment of butorphanol was shown.
