Four deaths due to intravenous injection of cocaine

Cocaine is a potent psychotropic drug that alters mood and behavior by stimulating the central nervous system. Deaths from abuse of cocaine are relatively rare. Most such deaths appear to be related to the intravenous injection of the drug. Acute fatal cocaine intoxication is characterized by headache, cold sweats, rapid pulse, tremors and nausea, followed by convulsions, unconsciousness and death. The prime mode of death appears to be respiratory paralysis, secondary to the effects of cocaine on the medullary portion of the brain. This paper presents four deaths due to acute cocaine intoxication following intravenous injection. Blood concentrations of cocaine were 0.11, 0.37, 0.36 and 0.75 mg/dl.

1922年5月，中国社会主义青年团“一大”在广州召开。“团一大”正式宣告了中国社会主义青年团的成立，并在中国青年运动史上第一次鲜明地提出了反帝反封建的政治方针。“团一大”因其重大的历史意义而成为中国青年运动的里程碑。本文对“团一大”在广州召开的原因进行探析．认为当时广东独特的政治环境和良好的群众基础、中国共产党和共产国际的影响、马克思主义的传播、广东社会主义青年团的发展等因素促成了“团一大”在广州的召开。力图揭示广东青年在早期的中国青年运动中所做出的突出贡献。     

关于侵权责任法教学的一点思考

《侵权责任法》是我国民事立法的创举,其采取了不同于大陆法系和英美法系的立法模式。同时也给教学工作带来了新的摸索。对于侵权责任法相关内容的编排,不同的教材的差别很大,往往给教师授课带来一定的困惑。通过法律关系的主体、客体、内容三要素的结构体系整合侵权责任法的相关内容,以此在教学中实现内容的完整性和结构的逻辑性。     

The irresistible decline of the medical profession? an empirical investigation of its autonomy and economic situation in the changing German welfare state

The aim of this paper is to examine various theses of loss of autonomy in the medical profession by means of an empirical investigation of changes in physicians' economic opportunities and technical autonomy in Germany since the mid-1970s. The paper shows that transitions in the organisational structure of the health care system, government policies aimed mainly at the economisation of health care, and the changing situation of the profession in the labour market, have together been responsible for the changes investigated. It is argued that technical autonomy has been retained in out-patient care, while in hospitals there has been some loss of technical autonomy. Moreover, the economic situation of physicians has in general deteriorated as a result of central state intervention.     

《彩票法》立法之必要性及其属性分析

我国自上世纪80年代中期开始发行彩票,在为社会公共事业筹集了大量资金,取得巨大社会效益的同时,彩票的规模越来越大、品种越来越多,可以说彩票市场已经蓬勃发展起来了。但同时,彩票市场也存在着管理混乱、弄虚作假、使用不明等诸多问题。制度的不足是其根本原因。我国目前规范彩票业的规范性文件都是一些行政法规、部门规章。可以说,制定一部系统、全面、完善、操作性强的《彩票法》已经成为了当务之急。本文从《彩票法》立法的必要性及其法律属性方面进行了论述。

Returns to Foreign Language Skills in a Developing Country: The Case of Turkey

This paper analyses the economic value of foreign languages in Turkey using data on some 6000 adult male wage-earners in 2007. We find positive earnings returns to proficiency in English and Russian, which increase with the level of competence. French and German skills are also positively rewarded, although their return seems mostly linked to the likelihood to hold specific occupations. In contrast, knowing Arabic does not generate an earnings premium. Focusing on English, we check for heterogeneous returns along the conditional earnings distribution. The results are qualitatively invariant when we account for misclassification errors in self-reported English skills.
