Classification of fractures of the skull vault bones

The proposed classification of fractures of the skull vault bones is based on fracture morphogenesis. Russian and foreign published data on skull vault fractures and the authors' own observations allowed some analogies and helped develop a new classification.     

The forensic-medical expertise in craniofacial trauma

Archive materials of the recent 6 years, including 14720 death cases of victims, were analyzed for the purpose of detecting the general regularities of injuries within the craniofacial trauma (CFT). The diversity of CFT with injuries to skull bones and medullary substance was found not to interfere with establishing an actual type and mechanism of trauma provided all injuries are thoroughly and comprehensively examined. The trauma specificity must be evaluated with respect to a location and direction of traumatic force in order to define an actual impact that caused death. CFT is special variation of craniocerebral trauma, whose onset mechanism needs more research. The efficiency of forensic-medical examination of CFT cadavers directly depends on the coordination and logic of measure undertaken by expert as well as on his technical outfit and knowledge of such trauma. The diversity of variations of damage to anatomic head structures requires an interdisciplinary approach with the need to isolate a predominant chain that affects the course and outcome of trauma.     

Classification of falling from a height

A classification of falling from a height is suggested; it involves different factors and conditions influencing the infliction of injuries: presence or absence of a preliminary acceleration and of possible obstacles in the body flight route; landing surface properties and a height of falling etc. A study and analysis of published data and author's independent observations provided a basis for the classification.     

Mechanogenesis and morphology of a closed trauma of the liver inflicted by blunt hard objects (mathematical estimation)

A retrospective analysis was made on traumas associated with hepatic injury. Signs-lesions in different kinds of trauma are characterized. A mathematic probabilistic method for differential diagnosis of a traumatic impact by hepatic lesion was applied. The findings can be used in conduction of forensic-medical examinations for the kind and mechanism of trauma.
