Immunohistochemical research on brain stem injury: expression of heat shock protein 70 in rat brain after traumatic brain stem injury

The aim of this study was to determine the expression of heat shock protein 70 (HSP70) as molecular chaperones, following traumatic brain stem injury(TBSI). The expression of HSP70 was detected in respective brain regions of rats 1 h, 3 h, 6 h, 12 h, 24 h after brain stem stabbing wound. Numerous HSP70 immunoreactivity positive blood vessel endothelioid and glia cells were found in cerebral, cerebellar cortex and hippocampus after 1 h, with H.E stain unchanged. In the area near the focal of brain stem injury, HSP70 immunoreactivity positive neurons increased significantly after 1 h of injury, reaching the highest level after 3 h, much higher than in other areas. HSP70 immunoreactivity positive cells still existed after 24 h of injury. It was suggested that TBSI cause the defectiveness of protein structure in brain, and induce HSP70 proteolysis of denature protein including misfolding or aggregate. TBSI can be diagnosed regionally by the increasing of HSP70 immunoreactivity positive neurons in the focal of brain stems.

中国法制建设陷入了价值或曰“精神”迥异的中西法律文化冲突之中,基于文化的承续性、行为模式的特定性以及普适性知识存在的有限可能性,应以中国传统法律文化中的基本价值为基础,用西方文化的一些普适性价值对其进行修正,并将社会形态变迁的因素考虑进去,重塑一个剔除了封建因素的中国法律文化,作为现代法治社会建设的根本。承载价值和制度理论的实施制度应当符合“趋利避害”的人性原则,体现法律经济学的“利益最大化”原则,用微观制度的合理可行性来实现宏观价值。

基于现代法治原则,在法律属性上刑事侦查具有行政权的形式特征,在本质上是一项司法　　权。行政化取向是我国刑事侦查制度运行的本质缺陷,必须以加快刑事侦查制度的职业化建设、对侦查　　强制处分导入事后司法审查制度、提高诉讼的平等性等手段对刑事侦查制度的司法型进行改进。     

Does Oil Cause Ethnic War? Comparing Evidence from Process-tracing with Quantitative Results

This article contributes both empirically and methodologically. Empirically, we seek to advance our understanding of an important puzzle: does oil cause ethnic war? Methodologically, we seek to identify more precisely the different weaknesses and strengths of the quantitative approach and case studies with process-tracing by explicitly comparing results from these two approaches on the same empirical question. We thus subject the statistical association between the ethnogeographical location of oil and the onset of ethnic war to test with process-tracing. Examining several pathway cases, we find that oil has rarely been a deep cause of ethnic war. Instead, the ethnogeographical location of oil either reignites dormant conflict that has deeper roots in ethnic resentment and hatred or intensifies ongoing conflict, mostly by facilitating the operation of two interconnected mechanisms. Our study echoes the notion that quantitative exercises alone often cannot establish specific causal mechanisms or how contextual factors impact the operation of these mechanisms, and it is precisely on these two key fronts that qualitative exercises possess critical advantages. Hence, quantitative methods and qualitative methods are complementary rather than competitive. Our study also yields important policy implications for preventing and managing ethnic conflict in countries with rich mineral resource.
