Danzhai,a Beauty Born of Culture and Nature

The Golden Pheasant Dance originated in Danzhai County, Guizhou Province. With their ingenuity and wisdom, the local Miao people here have striven against nature, creatively developing and maintaining a splendid traditional cultural heritage, including the Golden Pheasant Dance. Everybody in this area, male or female, old or young, is a good dancer. On the occasions of house-building or joyous festivals particularly, the lusheng reed pipe music starts up, people line up in a circle and start dancing, creating a scene of merriment and liveliness.     

Manas the Immortal

The Kirghiz believe that the power of Manas can help them conquer all enemies. According to their belief, in places where descendants of Manas live, no enemy is invincible, and they will call the name of Manas when battling invaders. During the Second World War, the Kirghiz and Kazakh cavalries of the Soviet Union shouted out ＂Manas＂ as they launched attacks on the German Fascist troops.

Origin of the Dolan Peopl

In modern Uyghur, the word ＂Dolan＂ means, ＂living in groups＂; however, this tells us nothing about the group＇s ancestors. Due to the lack of historical records, origin of the Dolan has long been veiled in mystery. It is still unknown whether the word ＂Dolan＂ refers to a certain place or a group of people. After an argument lasting for many years, people arrived at a consensus, that is, it would be more appropriate if interpreting Dolan as a distinctive way of life than any others.     

＂National Human Rights Action Plan（2009-2010）＂ guarantees the equality of all ethnic groups and protects the legal rights of all the minorities.

The State Council Information Office promulgated China＇s first ＂National HumanRights Action Plan （2009-2010）＂ on April 13, 2008. Yi Customary Law：Spirit of Democracy and Reconciliation

The Yi ethnic group is distributed mainly in the provinces of Yunnan, Sichuan, Guizhou and in the Longlin and Mubian areas of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, with 25 subgroups and a total population of over seven million. Their land is home to several wild rivers surging through a perilous natural environment. The Yi were once isolated from the outside world, in particular those communities in the Greater and Lesser Liangshan Mountains.
