Forum Focuses on Environment as Basic Human Rights

＂The pursuit of a clean, beau- tiful environment is among the most basic of humanrights, which deserves protection,＇＂ said Luo Haocai, president of the China Society for Human Rights Studies. Luo made the remarks during the Sixth Beijing Forum on Human Rights, which was held between opened on September 12 and 13, 2013. A healthy environment is espe- cially important to the Chinese people while the country is in the process of economic development, he said.     

Human Rights Training for Officials

The 9th workshop on human rights held by the State Council information Office(SCiO) opened in nanjing, in east China’s Jiangsu Province, on august 23. More than 60 officials from across the country and central government agencies participated in the training course, which lasted four days. Let Children Study in Safer Classrooms

No longer has Shama Arlin needed to travel 7.5 kilometers of mountain road to go to school every day. Now the little fourth grader lives in a boarding school together with 282 school mates. ＂Without this boarding school, I would have dropped out long ago. An exhibition on human rights in China was held in the Cultural Palace of Ethnic Groups, Beijing, November 17-26,2006, jointly by the Information Office of the State Council, China Society for Human Rights Studies (CSHRS) and China Human Rights Development Fund. The exhibition attracted more than 10,000 visitors from in and outside the country and aroused much media attention.
