社会保障要作为一种产业来培育

我国当前正在进行的社会保障制度改革,一个非常重要的目标就是要把社会保障的职能从国有企业当中分离出来.目标虽然是明确的,但是实现起来却不容易.其所以如此,我认为基本的原因有两个:一、迄今为止我们还没有设计出一个能够有效地实现这一目标,同时又能切实为企业职工提供充分保障的系统的改革方案;二、社会保障制度的改革还没有和国有企业本身的改革有机地联系起来.     

"If I lie, I tell you, may heaven and earth destroy me." Language and Legal Consciousness in Hong Kong Bilingual Common Law

Based on an ethnographic study of courtroom interactions in the bilingual (Chinese/English) common law system in Hong Kong, this article investigates how language plays a constitutive role in shaping the ways people use, argue, and think about law. While the use of English in Hong Kong prescribes by default the supposedly universal speech act of statement-making, the presence of Cantonese allows local speech acts to be brought into the courtrooms. Two local speech acts, "catching fleas in words" and "speaking bitterness," are discussed. The findings of this study suggest that by studying the local practices and beliefs in postcolonial settings, researchers can gain insights into the complex ways in which Anglo American–style legal institutions are reconstituted.     

State,Society, and Economic Development in Sports Life Cycles: The Case of Boxing in Korea

This study documents the rise and fall of boxing in Korea since its introduction in 1912. The participation of amateur athletes in boxing has decreased sharply since the 1980s. Also, the popularity of professional boxing among sports fans has diminished in recent decades. I consider boxing as a “product” that is “consumed” by individuals as participants and fans. I apply product life-cycle theory in analyzing the changing popularity of boxing. I argue that changes in the tastes of sports fans are closely linked to economic development, industrialization and standard of living. I present the rise in the popularity of soccer, baseball, and golf as illustrations of the changing tastes of consumers of sports that have accompanied economic development and social changes as well as the changing government policies on sports.

Population study of 11 Y-chromosomal STR loci in Singapore Chinese

In this study of 212 unrelated Singapore Chinese males, allelic frequencies and gene diversities of 11 Y-chromosome specific STR loci (DYS19, DYS389I, DYS389II, DYS390, DYS391, DYS392, DYS393, DYS385a/b, DYS438 and DYS439) were established. A total of 184 haplotypes were observed in the 212 individuals studied, of which 165 (89.67%) were unique. The most common haplotype was observed in five (2.35%) individuals. The overall haplotype diversity for the 11 Y-STR loci was 99.81%, and the discrimination capacity was 86.79%.     

社会性死亡:互联网时代的社会控制和道德重塑

从社会学意义上的"社会性死亡",到青年网络亚文化的自嘲实践,"社死"经历了一个语义扩张和转型的过程,涵盖了从严苛的外部制裁到轻微的自我调侃在内的不同语境.但其语义的核心内涵始终没变,它昭示了如下这样一种社会制裁机制的持续存在:违反社会公认行为规范的人,将会受到(或将担忧自己受到)其他社会成员的孤立、排斥与污名化.数字化生存和数字敞视的状态,为"社会性死亡"的频发提供了技术和文化基础;与此同时,"社会性死亡"也表征了人们维护行为规范、追求道德统一性的互动实践:当社会价值规范处于变迁和调整的时期,这些实践的冲突势必更加频繁,乃至反过来损伤社会性,最终有赖于其他社会控制手段和行动者的自律来加以调整.
