From 2018 to 2020, the number of U.S. companies attending the China International Import Expo (CIIE) increased from 180 to 198, with their total exhibition area one of the largest among all participating countries and regions.This year, some 200 U.S. com-panies attended the expo's fourth edition that took place in Shanghai from November 5 to 10, hitting a new high. Their active engagement in the CIIE mirrors U.S. businesses' continued passion for the Chinese market, the only major economy to achieve positive growth last year amid the worldwide impact of COVID-19, a Xinhua News Agency commentary read.     

Striving for Stability

Had it not been for the COVID-19 pandemic,Auckland, New Zealand's most populous city, would have been a busy place this month. While addressing the 28th APEC Economic Leaders' Meeting on November 12, Chinese President Xi Jinping said, It has been three decades of deepening reform and opening up for China, and of broadening economic cooperation across the Asia-Pacific.     

Dialogue,a Common Aspiration

Despite disruptions triggered by the COVID-19 pandemic, cooperation between China and Latin American and Caribbean (LAC) countries has continued at an accelerated pace, former Chilean President Eduardo Frei Ruiz-Tagle said at the Fourth Dialogue Between the Civilizations of China and Latin America and the Caribbean on October 22.He was echoed by Ma Peihua, former Vice Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, who stressed that in a complex and volatile world, it is never a sustainable solution for countries to detach themselves from the interna-tional community. Developing countries, including China and LAC nations, need to work together, support one another, and conduct cooperation and exchanges.
