Economic Crime and Casinos: China’s Wager on Macau

Notwithstanding the results of some empirical studies, casinos and gambling are widely considered to be breeding grounds for a range of deviant behavior and criminal offenses. As one writer expressed it, “the world of gambling offers a portfolio of anonymous expenditure” which allows for money laundering and other illegal activities associated with the legal operation of casinos. This paper examines economic and white-collar criminal activities and case histories of offenses related to Macau’s growing casino industry, now the highest revenue generating in the world. A Portuguese colony from 1557 until 1999 when it was returned to China, Macau is a Special Administrative Region (SAR) with its own governing officials operating under the PRC maxim of “one country, two systems.” The dramatic recent growth of the casino industry in Macau offers a unique opportunity to examine issues of economic crime and law enforcement within the context of the People’s Republic of China’s recently acquired political and economic stewardship in this SAR. The paper documents white-collar and organized crimes that present new challenges and risks to China now that Macau has become an international marquee.     

Food Shortages in the DPRK and Prospects for a Solution

In 1995,the DPRK encountered its biggest flood in one hundred years.lhe government made an appeal to the international community for food aid.Thus the food crisis in this country received worldwide attention.The root of the crisis lay in unfavorable natural conditions,frequent natural disasters,a misguided economic development strategy,drawbacks in the agricultural production and circulation systems,faults in agricultural policy,and changes in the international position,and so on.All these factors contributed to the food crisis.

该文通过总结资源枯竭型城市的内涵和转型规律，分析了金融支持资源型城市转型过程中的遇到的问题和主要障碍，借鉴国外资源型城市转型的经验，提出了促进中国金融业支持资源枯竭型城市转型的模式和相关建议。     

马克思对社会非正义的制度问题探讨及启示——从《1844年经济学哲学手稿》谈起

马克思对制度的思考涉及到了资本主义社会的根本的经济和政治制度方面及私有制和资本主义政治制度。而非正义源自于私有制对主体性、分配和文化身份的伤害。实现正义则需要另一种社会制度的设置。     

"大跃进思维定式"析论

"大跃进"是一场政治运动,"大跃进思维定式"指的是以这场运动为典型显现的一种模式化思维."大跃进思维定式"的政治理念之源是近代中国革命时期的"斗争哲学"."大跃进思维定式"的致思逻辑一是具有明确的政治价值目标,这个目标是当然的真理,无需论证,不容怀疑;二是确信认识主体的绝对化主导地位;三是肯认行为方式与过程的绝对一致性.从政治文化的层面看,"大跃进思维定式"并没有随着社会的发展而消失,反而有着某种程度的遗留,对此需要进行深刻的学理剖析,通过倡导宽容理念,在政治精神上走出"大跃进思维定式"的桎梏.     

抗传染性支气管炎病毒中药的研究

用细胞培养法、鸡胚培养法对车前子、麦冬等 4 0种中药进行抗传染性支气管炎病毒(IBV)的筛选试验。通过细胞病变 (CPE)抑制试验发现 ,石榴皮等 5种中药有抑制CPE的作用。培养细胞有 2 0 %发生CPE ,认为这些中药有抗IBV的作用。应用空斑形成抑制试验对 5种抗IBV中药进行复筛 ,结果表明 5种中药均有不同程度的抑制病毒空斑形成作用 ,其中以石榴皮等 2种中药作用较强 ,空斑形成抑制率可达 98%以上。应用鸡胚培养法对 5种中药进行抗IBV试验 ,结果发现 5种中药均显著地减少了鸡胚病变及胚体的死亡 ,其中以石榴皮等 2种中药抑制胚体病变的作用最强。通过不同加药时间观察到在接毒前 4 8h给药 ,有 2种中药具有明显抑制CPE的作用 ;接毒同时加药以及接毒后 1h加药 ,这 5种中药均能明显抑制CPE。
