China's exchange rate and the balance of trade

This paper examines the responsiveness of the balance of trade of the People's Republic of China to the real exchange rate. We find that, in both the short-run and the long-run, devaluation serves to improve the balance of trade. Using quarterly data for 1980:I to 1989:IV we show that the bulk of the response to devaluation occurs over a one year period, with noJ-curve effect. These results suggest that the two-tier price system and other measures to liberalize the Chinese economy have made the exchange rate an effective indirect tool for regulating trade.

Taiwan’s investment policy in mainland China a domestic perspective

The interaction of politics and economics has complicated Taiwan’s investment in mainland China. Do we need to put some pressure on Taiwan’s investors and ask them to follow the “Jie Je Yong Ren” policy? Or can we just let them go, according to the principle of market liberalization? It is indeed very difficult to find an absolute solution. Again, it is also not easy to identify which perspective, state or market, is right or wrong. Although the conflictual situation between the government and the entrepreneurs will continue in the future, at least some of the myths relevant to this political and economic interaction across the Strait must be cleared up. Hopefully, this paper might provide some implications for both political decision-makers and enterpreneurs in Taiwan.

心气虚,脾气虚患者血液动力学,流变学的研究

The article observed parameters of hemodynamics and hemorheology of 101 cases of patients with deficiency of heart Qi (DHQ) , 43 cases of patients with deficiency of the splenic Qi ( DSQ ) and 25 cases of normal people''s, discovered that heart function of DHQ was significantly lower (low VPE,CO)and hemorheologlical parameters of DHQ were significantly higher ( high solidify and viscosity ) than that of normal people''s, P<0.05 or 0.01; that heart function and hemorheological parameters of DSQ were lower than that of the normal people''s (low VPE, QO and viscosity), P<0.05 or 0.01. So authers considered that low heart function was common, feature of deficiency of Qi(DQ); the distinct changes of hemorheological parameters reflected the difference of mechanism between DHQ and DSQ.
