从“太阳花学运”看台湾民主

台湾自视为民主化的“灯塔”,但“太阳花学运”暴露出台湾民主存在诸多问题,引发广泛争议。争议中的共识是台湾民主出了问题,但也存在分歧,即究竟该对近三十年来的台湾民主化持什么态度,肯定、否定,抑或其他？分歧的产生与民主质量理论运用到台湾民主研究有关,民主质量的概念特性导致不同学者对其内涵的理解有所不同。有将其理解为狭义的“民主”的质量,包括竞争性选举、政党轮替等;也有将其理解为中义的“民主政治”的质量,包括法治、宪政、分权、人权等其他政治范畴;还有将其理解为广义的“民主政体”的质量,包括政治绩效、经济绩效、社会绩效等政治、经济和社会范畴。通过民主质量理论可知,台湾基本实现了巩固的民主,但尚未实现优质的民主。     

Editorial voices

Jack Smith is an artist on the margins of official narratives of art of the 1960s. This essay attempts to read his works as a means of questioning the challenges posed to normative readings of the work of culture, by presenting ideas about queer performance. Smith's almost hysterical identification with Maria Montez, a 1940s film siren, is privileged in my reading. Her key film, Cobra woman, turns on the image of a wound that will not heal. In this essay, I read the wound as signaling the breaches in our attempts at full communication, and compare this state of being to the idiosyncratic form of the camp effect, which functions as a kind of hieroglyph, or broken sign. Read through Maria Montez, the ‘failures’ of Smith's practice are explored in order to invogorate the seemingly exhausted discourse on camp, as well as to pose a critique of the ways in which certain bodies are failed by dominant culture.     

五四时期青年社团的楷模——新民学会

新民学会是五四时期最有影响的青年社团,在它成立的3年多时间里,先后参加赴法勤工俭学运动,积极响应五四运动,驱逐湖南军阀张敬尧,参加湖南自治运动,创办“文化书社”与“俄罗斯研究会”等一系列反帝反封建革命运动,由于它思想的先进性、组织的严密性和活动的革命性,不仅成为湖南省反帝反封建斗争的核心组织,而且成为全国青年社团的楷模。

"儿童读经运动"质疑--与南怀谨先生商榷

儿童读经运动以"填鸭"、"填牛"之强制灌输方法,让儿童死记硬背、生吞活剥古代"经典",企望以此使儿童获取"一生取之不尽,用之不竭"、"一劳永逸"之学问,这公然悖离了儿童教育的近现代观念,是走历史的回头路.儿童读经运动是不可能扫陋习、除时弊、正世风、开新学的,更不可能建设现代化、全球化之文化中国.南怀谨先生对儿童读经运动的支持,对传统教育中记诵方法的推崇,对新旧教育的某些认识和评论,以及退回旧式教育的主张,都是值得商榷的.南怀谨先生主张的儿童读经运动之所以能够大行其道,是因为当代中国文化尚未从根本上接纳近现代形态的儿童教育观念.

五四运动前后期毛泽东的妇女解放观有着质的不同,前期明显地带有资产阶级民主主义的色彩,而后期则孕育着马克思主义妇女观的新因素,并最终发展为马克思主义的妇女观。

Urban political machines and student politics in “middle” Bangladesh: violent party labor in Rajshahi city

In response to the mostly Dhaka-centered research on student politics in Bangladesh, this article aims to understand political competition, the role of patronage networks, political organizations, violence, and student organizations in the provincial city of Rajshahi. The article explores how student politics in Bangladesh shapes (and is shaped by) the political dynamics in “middle Bangladesh.” Student groups in Bangladesh are closely affiliated to political parties and serve as their most important source for mobilization in a party-political regime commonly referred to as a “partyarchy.” Campus politics is deeply integrated into the urban party-political machine in Rajshahi. Controlling Rajshahi University (RU) provides a steady flow of party workers for the local party machine. Thus, the RU campus is a space for organizing political (and violent) labor as well as an important source of revenue for and the distribution of benefits by local party bosses. The urban party machine, however, is not mechanically held together merely by the dispensation of inducements – instead, it is more chaotic and contingent on a form of strategic ambiguity that disguises the structuring effects of patronage power that keeps members motivated and engaged.

外国留学生住宿社会化背景下，留学生聚居区逐渐形成。北京市海淀区五道口留学生聚居区是北京市管辖外国留学生数量最多，处理留学生事务最多，留学生管理服务最先进的社区之一。通过研究在京留学生居留现状，分析留学生社会化管理中存在的问题，对完善公安机关外国留学生管理提出建议和意见。
