A new faith and a new name? Crusades,conversion, and baptismal names in medieval Baltics

The baptism of the natives in Estonia and Latvia in the thirteenth century did not result in compulsory name change. The native population accepted the “Christian” names by the mid-sixteenth century as a result of general cultural adaption of elements of the “German” culture of socially higher classes, but this process does not directly reflect the process of acceptance of the Christian religion. The few examples of receiving a new name in the crusading period indicate the re-arrangement of political relations, which were related to creating patronage ties and god-parenthood relations.

Abstract

In the beginning faith was the alpha and omega of revolutionary dreams and terrorist actions. This article will examine case studies among the Peoples of the Book—Judaism, Christianity, and Islam—for religious terrorism is not the product of one faith. It argues that the cultural resonance of each movement examined offers a blank slate on which contemporary seekers, dreamers, and fighters may write. The title, borrowed from a popular novel, is the leitmotif of this form of violence. By all objective forms of analysis, the movements chronicled in these pages are a parade of seemingly stupid ideas held by idealists, fools, and fanatics who dreamed that, with God at their side, they could bring perfection to a fallen world. In such a cause, antinomian violence is inevitable and genocide its logical outcome. Yet these early movements are not to be despised, for together it was they, not the huddled masses cowering before the powers that be, that created the modern world.     

论陕甘宁革命老区的振兴与可持续发展——现状、问题与对策分析

陕甘宁革命老区是中国能源等资源富集的宝地,贯彻实施好《陕甘宁革命老区振兴规划》,对促进老区经济社会发展、保障国家战略能源安全具有特殊的政治意义和全局意义。该文分析了《规划》实施与老区发展的条件、现状以及存在的问题,并从健全《规划》实施机制、加强生态保护、完善资源开发税费政策、推动老区基础设施与试点区建设、加强企业治理和制定统一政策6个方面提出了建议。     

膏摩治疗踝关节扭伤后期患者疗效观察

目的 观察及对比以膏摩法和“消痛贴膏外敷加主动功能锻炼”两种治疗手段治疗踝关节扭伤后期患者的临床疗效及疼痛改善情况。方法 将93例患者采用随机对照的研究方法分为治疗组（膏摩疗法）和对照组（消痛贴膏外敷和主动功能锻炼）,观察并对比两组临床疗效,采用视觉模拟评分（visual analog scale,VAS）评价患踝疼痛程度。结果 两组临床疗效比较,差异具有统计学意义（P＜0.05）;治疗后两组VAS评分均较治疗前显著降低（P＜0.05）,治疗组治疗前后VAS差值显著大于对照组（P＜0.05）。结论 膏摩法和“消痛贴膏外敷加主动功能锻炼”对踝关节扭伤后疼痛均具有一定疗效,膏摩组疗效相对更优。     

理筋正骨手法联合消瘀接骨散治疗陈旧性踝关节扭伤临床观察

目的 观察理筋正骨手法联合消瘀接骨散治疗陈旧性踝关节扭伤的疗效.方法 采用随机数字表法将60例陈旧性踝关节扭伤患者随机分为治疗组和对照组,每组30例,治疗组患者采用理筋正骨手法联合消瘀接骨散治疗,对照组患者采用中频电联合消瘀接骨散治疗.采用视觉模拟量表(visual analog scale,VAS)对患者治疗前后踝关节疼痛进行评分,采用压痛仪测定患者主诉最为疼痛部位的数值,采用表面肌电(surface electromyography,sEMG)检测仪及其配套电脑软件采集并分析治疗前后中位频率(median frequency,MF)和积分肌电(integrated electromyography,iEMG)的值,采用Baird-Jackson踝关节功能评分评价治疗前后踝关节功能改善程度,并参考《中医病证诊断疗效标准》进行疗效评价.结果 治疗组临床疗效显著优于对照组(P<0.05).与治疗前比较,两组治疗后VAS评分减少,压痛数值、Baird-Jackson踝关节功能各项评分、腓骨长短肌iEMG值和MF值增加,差异均有统计学意义(P<0.05);且各指标减少或增加程度,治疗组与对照组比较,差异均有统计学意义(P<0.05).结论 理筋正骨手法结合消瘀接骨散可有效减轻陈旧性踝扭伤患者的疼痛,改善踝周肌肉募集程度,降低踝周肌群疲劳度,改善踝关节功能,且疗效优于中频电疗法结合消瘀接骨散.

King Wenceslas’ relations with the Teutonic Order in light of the dispute over the Archbishopric of Riga (1392–1397)

King Wenceslas of the Romans (1378–1400) and of Bohemia (1378–1419) supported the Teutonic Knights, but his involvement in the Eastern Baltic region during the 1390s turned him into an enemy of the Knights. This paper argues that the change in Wenceslas’ policy was solely in the interests of his courtier Duke Swantibor of Pomerania-Stettin, who sought to establish his son as Archbishop of Riga. Wenceslas’ support for Swantibor owed to the traditions of courtly favor and instability in Bohemia, not out of any personal grudge against the Knights, as was claimed in earlier historiography.

“已满七十五周岁不适用死刑”条款的理解适用

无论是采用“广义说”还是“狭义说”来界定，都可能会指：只要是在审判阶段属于“已满七十五周岁的人”即可，都不会影响对“已满七十五周岁的人”的认定范围。“已满七十五周岁”的立法依据是以平均寿命来综合考虑的。如果将“以特别残忍手段致人死亡”修改为“情节特别恶劣”，这无疑是扩大了免死的限制条件范围，也却相应地也缩小了“已满七十五周岁的人，不适用死刑”的范围。
