How are we doing? Group-based economic assessments and African American political behavior

Using data from the National Black Election Study, this study tests the importance of group-based economic evaluations in driving African American political behavior.¹ Group-based evaluations powerfully influence presidential approval and vote choice, even controlling for national and personal evaluations and a conception of “linked fate.” More importantly, group-based assessments exert a significant and independent influence on turnout, the central variable in black electoral politics. The results extend and reconsider the implications of group solidarity as a motivator of black political behavior and suggest that a revision of traditional notions of economic voting is in order, at least for African Americans.

A family with unusual Kell genotypes

A family in which kKp^a, kKp^b, KKp^b and K^o are segregating confirms the depressing effect of Kp^a on the products of other Kell genes in cis. The significance of such unusual Kell genotypes in forensic testing is discussed.     

公共管理框架下关爱矫治模式的探究——以德宏州三县(市)老弱病残吸贩毒人员康复关爱中心为例

零星贩毒活动是吸毒者获取毒品的主要途径,也是禁吸戒毒难以巩固,复吸率高的重要原因之一.<禁毒法>的实施,针对特殊群体探索公共管理框架下的关爱矫治复模式刻不容缓.德宏州盈江、陇川、瑞丽等县(市)在该问题上进行了探索,为治理老弱病残等特殊群体人员的吸贩毒问题提供了借鉴.

Are we using technology for technology's sake? An evaluation of a simulated employment exercise at undergraduate level

The technology enabled us to form a large cohort into small groups with relative ease. There is a considerable amount of literature discussing the optimum method of group formation to minimise conflict and maximise achievement. This paper argues that the formation of the group is not critical to its cohesion as long as staff are able to manage its operation; and it is the use of technology that facilitates this. Careful management of group work resulted in outstanding levels of student satisfaction with the process.     

Group Treatment for Aggressive Women: An Initial Evaluation

There is virtually no information or research on group treatment for women who may behave abusively to intimate partners. The Calgary Counseling Centre has offered a group treatment program for such clients, Responsible Choices for Women, over the past several years. This paper describes the group format, the demographic characteristics of the 64 women who began the group, and a comparison of those who completed treatment versus those who dropped out. The pre/mid/post-test group evaluation utilized measures of physical and non-physical partner abuse, self-esteem, depression, clinical stress, marital satisfaction, family relations, locus of control, sex roles, and assertiveness. The repeated measures analysis on data from 33 women found statistically significant improvements on non-physical abuse of partner, clinical stress, generalized contentment, self-esteem and assertiveness, using a conservative p-value of .009, given the use of multiple tests. Clinical implications of these results are described.

言语是魏晋士人清谈的基本载体,也是魏晋风度的重要表现形式。魏晋士人的言语世界异彩纷呈,既有鲜明的共同倾向,又有独特的个性差异,极能折射出士人人格的双重性,是后世品鉴魏晋风度的有效渠道。《世说新语》作为士人言语的宝库,其语料价值在此得到了进一步的确认。     

人血痕ORM、Pi、AHSG和GC同步等电聚焦分型

作者在国内外首次建立了血清类粘蛋白、α1－抗胰蛋白酶、α2－HS－糖蛋白和型特异性成份等四种遗传标记同步等电聚焦免疫酶放大分型方法。累计个人识别机率为0．9878，非父排除率为0．6648，是国内外已报道同步电泳分型方法中鉴别能力最高的。本法可对稀释度为1／100的血清进行分型。对于室温保存四周的血痕盯全部正确分型。除Pi外，ORM、AHSG和GC三种遗传标记至少在24周之内皆可正确分型。
