Teenage Pregnancy and Neoliberal Subjectivity in Mexican Television Series La Rosa de Guadalupe

This article examines teenage pregnancy narratives in Televisa's La Rosa de Guadalupe, Mexico's most-watched television programme. Adolescent pregnancy in Mexico is considered a pressing social and political challenge, cutting across broader efforts by the state to regulate population growth and lower maternal morbidity during the second half of the twentieth century. The series models personal sexual responsibility and ‘good’ motherhood yet simultaneously confirms the Virgen de Guadalupe as intercessor in complex social issues in Mexico. Didacticism towards responsibilisation confirms modern, neoliberal subjectivity, but obscures the socio-economic conditions within which those complex social issues are embedded – conditions themselves shaped by neoliberal policy.     

Mobility and fusion in the literary field: the maverick poetry of Dolors Miquel

Abstract

With the aim of exploring the correlations between sociological and aesthetic areas, this article examines the mobility of poet Dolors Miquel in the Catalan literary field, where she has occupied positions ranging from the poetics of orality to ruralism, and where her work has been printed in the commercial press as well as underground publications. This paper ties that mobility in with practices of fusion such as the parodical discourse and camp, based on the hypothesis that in literatures affected by subordination, as is the case of Catalan literature, the partial overlapping of the spheres of general and restricted consumption is conducive to the emergence of dual languages. The satire, the revision of tradition, and the purposely “low-cost” tone that characterise Miquel’s poetry can be read as discourses formed by the combination of popularised stagings and elitist knowledge. Although this combination compromises the distinction between select minority and mass public audiences, it offers new answers to a question posed in the Catalan literature from the 1960s on and which continues to apply today: the question as to the space to be occupied by popular literature.

我国知识产权教育的转型与发展

我国知识产权教育历经近30年的发展已经取得了显著成效。在新的历史时期,知识产权教育要结合国家知识产权战略和人才规划战略,要协调精英教育和大众化教育,要促进知识产权普及教育和专业教育,从而推动知识产权教育的持续健康发展。     

Political Emotion

Emotions played a key role in the mass rallies that tookplace in Moscow and other major Russian cities in 2011–13. A comparison between the emotions expressed in anti-government and pro-government rallies shows that participants shared similar views on social order and social justice. However, similar emotions articulated in different locations were imbued with different tonalities and rhetoric. The grassroots horizontal cooperation at the civil society rallies opened up space for crisscrossing communication and interaction among demonstrators, which created vivid, self-organized emotions. The vertical structure of mobilization at the progovernment rallies, which was based on coercion, impeded free communication among its participants, closing off communication in the space of labor collectives, which hindered the production of emotions “from below” and prevented the communication of emotional spontaneity: the protesters could only adopt the emotions broadcast from the stage.     

流行文化视野下的福建省青少年吸毒行为与预防对策

在全球化影响下,青少年吸食合成毒品已然成为福建省毒情的一个重要特点。吸毒人群的低龄化趋势不但与社会文化、经济背景密切相关,也与流行文化的负面影响难脱干系。而有效利用流行文化中的积极元素,营建富有活力的家庭、学校与社区禁毒教育环境,则不失为针对青少年实施吸毒预防教育的必要举措。

从党内文化与行政文化、民众文化互动的视角来看,优良党风的基本内涵、内容体系、价值评判、基本维度、实质所在等构成其理论形态,"以优良的党风促政风"的原理在于我们党是执政党,其实质体现的是党内文化对行政文化发展的推动作用;"以优良的党风带民风"要借助于干部的表率作用发挥和对群众进行社会风尚教育的形式来达到,其实质体现的是党内文化带动民众文化的过程。     

Cast in stone: art,race, and the body at South African universities

ABSTRACT

I started my fine art training in the 1990s at the university currently known as Rhodes.* The foundation of art training was drawing. First year focused on two subjects: the European plaster cast and the nude black model. This practice situated my learning of art in the European past as well as the South African present. Drawing on black feminist thought I show that framed by colonial norms the black body was a humiliated and abject subject. She was a racial stereotype rather than an object of beauty. Recent protests at universities specifically targeting art, confirms a deep dissatisfaction amongst students with colonial epistemic knowledge and value systems. By rejecting the colonial and apartheid legacy of universities younger generations use protest action as a means to demand urgent change.
