This article explores “The June Tyson Sessions,” a collaborative experimental sound project that employs remix as method to re-materialize the performativity of the voice of June Tyson, the former lead singer of the Sun Ra Arkestra. Using only samples of Tyson's voice, “The June Tyson Sessions” seeks to resituate Tyson herself as a cosmic artisan, composer of forces, and arranger of forms, affirming the cosmic potentialities immanent to Tyson's vocal performances that Ra may have overlooked, sonically following a line of flight toward a becoming-woman that is integral to, yet rarely emphasized in, the broader scope of the Arkestra's becoming-cosmic. 相似文献
