YouTube: A Political Advertising Tool? A Case Study of the Use of YouTube in the Campaign for the European Parliament Elections 2009

Political campaigns are made to attract the attention from citizens. The beginning of its adaption is linked to the appearance of the social media and user-generated content. Since the number of users of social network sites in Europe constantly grows, 2009 was the first time that these websites were used in political marketing purposes for the European Parliament elections. This is an exploratory study of the nature and extent of video-based social media, studied through the content analysis of YouTube videos created for the electoral campaign for the 2009 European Parliament . 建党90年来的反腐倡廉历程是一个从命令反腐到运动反腐再到制度反腐的演进过程，反腐倡廉法律制度建设同样经历了这三个发展阶段。当前我国制定了以宪法为依据的一整套反腐倡廉法律法规和以党章为依据的一系列党内规章制度，已经形成了较为成熟的反腐败和廉政建设法律法规制度体系。但和《联合国反腐败公约》确立的国际标准相比，我国在实体法、程序法、制度层面。尤其是财产申报制度上，尚存在一定差距。应当从这三个方面着手，结合我国实际情况，进一步完善现行的法律法规和规章制度，真正建成胡锦涛总书记所强调的“科学严密完备管用的反腐倡廉制度体系”。     

House Poor: How a Drive for Stability Led to a Strategic Rethinking of Cultural Institutions’ Relationship to Their Space

While the financial crisis of 2008?2009 represented an unforeseen and momentous obstacle, the key challenges for many cultural organizations remained constant and revolved around making sound strategic decisions regardless of the financial climate. From the standpoints of three prominent cultural leaders, this article addresses factors that directors must consider in guiding their institution forward, such as maintaining a strategic mix of funding and the delicate balance between mission and space. A key binding element among the institutions chosen is that they all underwent a major capital campaign and the construction of a new facility prior to the crisis.

The Political Origins of the Financial Crisis: The Domestic and International Politics of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac

For much of the last decade it was clear that the commercial operations of the government-sponsored enterprises Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac were creating an increasing systemic financial risk. That risk was compounded by the fact that the Japanese and Chinese central banks were acting as cheap creditors. The Bush administration and some Republicans in Congress made efforts from 2001 to create a tougher regulatory framework for Fannie and Freddie. Fannie and Freddie were able to defeat these attempts to constrain their operations by a four-fold political strategy involving campaign contributions to members of Congress, a vast lobbying apparatus, the cultivation of a political language around affordable housing for minorities, and abusing and smearing their regulator. Since Japan and China understood that the US government would have to assume Fannie and Freddie's liabilities in a crisis they had no incentive to expose the political fiction that it would not.
