Cultural and media policy have remained largely distinct fields of research, policymaking, and policy advocacy in the United States. There are, however, significant areas of overlap between these two areas that have not been fully explored. The author examines the linkages between the two fields, covering the traditional lines of demarcation that have separated them; contemporary developments that compel stronger overlap in terms of their substantive areas of concern; the shared, normative principles between the two areas; the benefits of a tighter integration of cultural and media policy; and specific mechanisms for developing stronger linkages between them.

建国初期的“三反”运动特别是对刘青山、张子善一案的严肃处理是中国共产党塑造自身政党形象的一个重要举措。刘张案暴露了“机关生产”的普遍性和它存在的腐蚀性，中国共产党开始采取措施切断权力和财富的直接联系。以群众运动的方式来开展“三反”斗争是当时党内纯洁力量的共识，人民群众被动员到新的政治实践中来，体现了让人民参与政治生活的积极意义。严肃处理刘张案，中国共产党展示了这样一种政治姿态，即坚决地和国民党作风划清界限，自觉地接受人民的监督。     

中美英语新闻的批评语篇分析——以玉树地震报道为例

批评语言学认为,任何语言运用都具有意识形态意义。随着人们对语言和意识形态关系的深入研究,越来越多的人开始使用批评语篇分析的手法来分析媒体语篇的语言特征。从语言学的角度,运用批评语篇分析手法对比分析China Daily和The New York Times关于玉树地震的报道,从词汇分类、转换、情态系统三方面探讨这两家媒体对于该事件报道中的语言运用的差异以及产生原因,可以揭示中西方媒体所蕴含的不同意识形态。

重庆“打黑除恶”专项行动吸引了大批中外媒体的关注，各媒体从不同视角对事件进行着不同理解和报道，也架构着对事件不同的信息传递和价值评判。开展实证研究，比较和分析不同媒体关于同一事件的不同报道，既有实践价值，又有理论意义。     

Sudanese refugees in Victoria: An analysis of their treatment by the Australian Government

Following a brief historical account documenting developments in Australian Immigration politics and refugee and asylum seeker policies, this paper seeks to explain why Sudanese refugees in Victoria have recently been implicated in an increased involvement in crime by politicians and the media. It will be argued that the alleged increase involvement in crime has been constructed by the Government and the media – in order to justify the Australian Government's policy responses to the refugee crisis, to create public acceptance of such policies, and additionally for political gain. These policies were part of the Australian Government's wider policies on maintaining a homogenous Australian identity and have negatively impacted minority groups. Ultimately such policies encouraged racism and segregation in local communities, thus tarnishing Australia's multicultural standing.     

社区志愿行动:后单位制时代中国社区建设的一种重要力量

改革开放以后，随着单位制的消解，我国逐渐步入“后单位制时代”，亦即“社区制时代”。社区制成为单位制解体后社会管理和社会整合的另一种制度选择。志愿行动于20世纪80年代末在我国正式出现，最早的产生缘于自上而下的发动，活动化、节日化是其两个重要特点。随着志愿行动的更广泛和深入开展，制度化和日常化成为其发展的两个重要取向，而祉区志愿行动正是这些取向得以实现的一条基本途径，志愿行动也将成为社区建设的一种重要力量。本文阐述了我国从单位制时代向后单位制时代变迁的社会背景及其特征，概述了后单位制时代社区建设的两种路径，并对于如何推进社区志愿行动、促进社区建设提出了建议。

当前党领导的反腐败斗争具有领导坚强有力,取得重大进展和依然严峻复杂的特点;形势对于当前高校大学生思想政治教育具有提振思想政治教育工作者战胜困难的勇气与决心、增强教育的说服力、为高校培育践行社会主义核心价值观提供重要启迪以及为大学生学习运用马克思主义立场、观点和方法观察、解决问题提供生动教材等积极影响;学生思想政治教育工作者应充分认识反腐败斗争形势对于大学生思想政治工作影响的重要性,切实主导反腐败斗争形势对学生思想政治教育影响力的发挥,进一步提高自身综合素质以适应反腐斗争形势下的高校学生思想政治教育工作任务。

The Power of Smears in Two American Presidential Campaigns

This article compares the two main cases of deceitful negative campaigning that characterized the American presidential campaigns of 2004 and 2008. These are, respectively, the attacks led by the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth against the military career and the subsequent pacifist turn of John Kerry and the smear, initially spread around the web, that claimed that Barack Obama was Muslim. This research describes the origins, developments, and outcomes of the two smear campaigns, focusing on the differences and similarities between them in terms of their content and their communication strategies. It then investigates the role played by the different media platforms employed by the negative campaigners, the importance of a prompt answer by the recipients of the accusations, and the response of public opinion. Finally, the comparison of the cases allows pointing out some conditions for the success or failure of mudslinging in contemporary American political communication.
