The Effects of Scale Carving on Instruments Assessing Violence

Little research has examined the properties of survey instruments when the full instrument is not administered (scale carving). The purpose of the present study was to test scale carving effects on survey instruments. Participants completed carved and whole versions of two instruments measuring violent behaviors and attitudes at two sessions. Findings indicated that administering select subscales rather than the entire instrument affects psychometric properties of certain instruments. For instance, mean scores of certain instruments differed depending upon whether the instruments were administered in their entirety or in carved versions. Reliability coefficients did not differ between carved and whole versions, and correlation coefficients were moderate. Therefore, psychometric properties of carved instruments should be assessed prior to their use in research.

Space,scale and jurisdiction in health service provision for drug users: the legal geography of a supervised injecting facility

Sydney's Medically Supervised Injecting Centre delivers the significant benefits of harm reduction, but has been controversial regards the law. Its contested history is examined here through the lens of legal geography. Narrative analysis reveals that the arguments for and against the centre's establishment referenced matters ranging from international treaties through to municipal governance. These arguments and their outcome were variously shaped by the different spaces and scales of jurisdiction but not simply in a zero sum game of law played out through the hierarchically ordered nesting of container-like territories. The implications for legal geography and for public health are discussed.     

Grooming child victims into sexual abuse: a psychometric analysis of survivors’ experiences

This study sought to examine the psychometric properties of the Grooming subscale of the Computer Assisted Maltreatment Inventory (CAMI) in a sample of adult survivors of child sexual abuse. There are currently no other research measures that examine grooming events as experienced by survivors, which underscores the importance of a reliable and valid way of gathering this information. Participants (n?=?295) were adult survivors of child sexual abuse who completed this anonymous study online. The sample was collected through the use of adult survivor of child sexual abuse websites, trauma blogs, and survivor group pages on Facebook. Exploratory Factor Analysis, Confirmatory Factor Analysis, and Cronbach’s Alpha were used to ascertain the reliability and validity of this subscale. These analyses suggest that the Grooming subscale of the CAMI is a reliable and valid measure. This measure is an important addition to the body of research instruments that measure adult survivor of child sexual abuse experiences, particularly since this is the only instrument that examines grooming from this perspective.     

加味酸枣仁汤联合经颅微电流刺激治疗肝郁血虚型失眠症临床研究

目的观察加味酸枣仁汤联合经颅微电流刺激治疗肝郁血虚型失眠症的临床疗效。方法将52例肝郁血虚型失眠症患者随机分为联合治疗组和西药对照组,每组26例。联合治疗组患者口服加味酸枣仁汤,并接受经颅微电流刺激疗法,西药对照组患者口服艾司唑仑,两组疗程均为4周。治疗前后,分别采用匹兹堡睡眠质量指数(Pittsburgh sleep quality index,PSQI)和睡眠状况自评量表(self rating scale of sleep,SRSS)评价患者的睡眠质量;治疗后观察两组的临床疗效、中医证候疗效及安全性。结果联合治疗组与西药对照组治疗后PSQI总分、SRSS总分均较治疗前显著降低(P0.05);两组治疗前后PSQI和SRSS下降程度比较,差异无统计学意义(P0.05);两组临床疗效比较,差异无统计学意义(P0.05);两组中医证候疗效比较,差异具有统计学意义(P0.05);联合治疗组的不良反应比西药对照组少,且随访无反跳。结论加味酸枣仁汤口服联合经颅微电流刺激疗法在改善失眠症状方面与艾司唑仑相似,但在改善肝郁血虚证候方面明显优于艾司唑仑,其不良反应较少,远期疗效较好。     

肺抑瘤膏联合树突状细胞-细胞因子诱导的杀伤细胞治疗晚期肺腺癌23例

目的 观察肺抑瘤膏联合树突状细胞-细胞因子诱导的杀伤细胞（dendritic cells-cytokine induced killer cells, DC-CIK）治疗晚期肺腺癌的临床疗效。方法 将46例晚期肺腺癌患者随机分为观察组（肺抑瘤膏联合DC-CIK治疗）和对照组（化学疗法联合免疫支持治疗）,治疗4个月后观察患者临床主症、卡氏功能状态量表（Karnofskys performance scale, KPS）评分及血清血管内皮生长因子（vascular endothelial growth factor,VEGF）的改变。结果 治疗后,观察组咳嗽、咳血、胸痛、气短、乏力、纳呆的好转率显著高于对照组（P＜0.05,或P＜0.01）;观察组在提高KPS评分及降低血清VEGF水平方面显著优于对照组（P＜0.05,或P＜0.01）。结论 肺抑瘤膏联合DC-CIK治疗可有效改善晚期肺腺癌患者临床症状,提高生存质量,并能显著降低患者血清VEGF。
