The young carer penalty: Exploring the costs of caregiving among a sample of Canadian youth

This research contributes a first-hand account of the experiences of youth’s substantial unpaid familial caregiving in the context of long-term illness, disability or problems related to alcohol and/or other drugs. A qualitative focus group methodology explored the benefits and challenges of youth’s caregiving via a sample of 15 youth caregivers (or young carers) from both the Greater Toronto area and the Niagara Region of Southern Ontario. The findings reveal evidence for a unique “young carer penalty,” a term coined by this research to build upon the gendered “care penalty” experienced by adult women (especially mothers) when performing care work.

思想政治教育是教育者与受教育者思想观念、政治观点、道德规范传递与反馈的过程。在这一过程中,良好的沟通方式是影响教育有效性的重要因素。在学生成长的过程中,不同的主体对学生影响差异明显,根据人际交往变化规律,海德(FritzHeider)的P-O-X人际关系模式提供了师生间沟通的理想方案,在最优选择的基础上达到师生的双向互动,特别是对于青年教师,这一模式的可操作性更强。青年教师应充分利用这一理论,掌握科学的沟通方法,方能取得良好的思想政治教育效果。

历史小说是美国少年小说的一个重要类型。自20世纪30年代以后,反映少年生活的历史小说在美国不断问世,并于60、70年代进入繁荣阶段。本文旨在通过梳理美国少年历史小说的发展脉络,探讨其潮流及特点,如发展阶段、文化内涵、审美价值观等,说明其文学成就与影响,同时加深我国对美国少年历史小说的了解和研究。     

Wan Zhengwen： Champion of the Miao Wooden Drum Dance

Wan Zhengwen was born in 1951 in Fanpai Village of Taijiang County in Guizhou Province. Having learned the Wooden Drum Dance from a young age, he set ut） the Fanpai Village Wooden Drum Dance troupe at the beginning of the 1980s. He has led the ensemble ever since, putting on shows around China and abroad, and winning much praise from audiences. The ＂dancing king＂ of the Miao ethnic group has been named a national inheritor of the Wooden Drum Dance, which is now recognized as part of China＇s intangible cultural heritage.

加大对弱势群体的帮扶力度,让他们共享经济社会发展成果,是建设和谐社会的重要方面。基于对中山市低收入中青年妇女生活状况的调查,全面了解掌握其生活现状、遇到的困难及其需求,进而有针对性地加强对其帮扶力度,尤其是注重从源头上帮扶,重点解决其技能、就业问题,加强“健康扶贫”,是提升低收入中青年妇女生活质量的关键所在。

A vindication of the rights of girls: surviving girlhood in the 21st century

ABSTRACT

Between 2014 to 2016 we conducted mixed-methods research exploring girls’ experiences of growing up in the UK in the 21st century. We spoke to girls and young women between the ages of 10 and 24 in England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland to gain a qualitative snapshot of what matters to girls. We also conducted the first quantitative study of a range of quality of life indicators disaggregated by age and gender in the UK to garner a statistical view of geographically-based experiences of growing up girl. The study was commissioned by Plan International UK and The State of Girls’ Rights report was launched in September 2016. What struck us at the time of writing the report was the resonance between challenges girls raised in 2016 and those proclaimed by Wollstonecraft in her 1792 treatise, A Vindication of the Rights of Woman published over 200 years earlier. Here we bring together these voices from the 18th and 21st centuries to consider the continuing legacy and resonance of Wollstonecraft’s ideas in thinking about growing up girl in Britain.
