浅析日本政治右倾化

日本首相小泉纯一郎再次参拜靖国神社,这绝不是偶然事件,而是有着深厚的政治右倾化背景。日本政治右倾化表现在参拜靖国神社,美化侵略战争;修改和平宪法;鼓吹“中国威胁论”,制造摩擦;妄图成为军事大国四方面。日本对侵略战争没有进行认真反省、清算;经济实力增强了日本的政治大国欲望,导致日本政治上的激进和右倾化现象。此外,日本文化的独特性,是日本政治右倾化的深层原因。日本政治右倾化,使东亚的和平与安全受到潜在的威胁。     

论战后初期日本军队的重建

第二次世界大战后 ,美国出于实现其“全球战略”的需要 ,扶植日本发展军事力量 ;日本在吉田茂战略思想的基础上 ,亦确立了渐进式扩军路线。以 195 0年朝鲜战争为契机 ,日本由组建“国家警察预备队”而迈出重整军备的第一步 ,至 196 0年前 ,日陆上、海上、航空自卫队已具规模 ,完成了三军重建工作。     

国际形势演进中的当代资本主义

第二次世界大战结束以来,在时代主题转换、冷战格局存续、多极化趋势发展、经济全球化深入等方面的国际形势演进中,当代资本主义既扮演了重要角色,又受到这些方面国际形势的重要影响。考察国际形势演进中的当代资本主义,不仅有利于深入认识国际形势演变与当代资本主义的关系,而且有利于深入认识中国特色社会主义建设的国际环境。     

“冷战”时期之禁毒与美国外交取舍

"冷战"时期,以美国为代表的西方社会,以联合国为舞台,借助新闻媒介之手,曾经展开过一场禁毒遏共外交活动。这既是当时特殊的"冷战"背景下美国遏制与孤立新中国的产物,更是美国对外政策实施过程中以话语权优势制衡对手的惯有手法,而由此助长了东南亚"金三角"毒品源地的坐大,则显然是以意识形态为标尺的"冷战"背景下禁毒外交取舍不当之"苦果"。唯有摒弃意识形态领域的偏见,保持禁毒的初衷不变,国际禁毒事业方能得以长足发展。     

太平洋战争期间日本对东南亚的财政金融统制

1941年日本在发动太平洋战争的同时,开始对东南亚地区实行财政金融统制,采取政府出台相关政策、军队和金融机构具体实施的方针,滥发军票和南方开发金库券,对占领区征收苛捐杂税,排挤当地商业银行,严重破坏了当地原有的财政金融秩序,给东南亚各国人民造成巨大损失。     

Project 0395A.ĐC | Performing disorientation

The end of the Vietnam/American War lead to one of the largest exoduses of the latter part of the twentieth century: more than 3 million people escaped from Vietnam, Cambodia, and Laos over the course of two decades starting in 1975, many by boat and an estimated 1 million died at sea. How do you witness and retell stories of violence in the aftermath of war and dispossession at sea in the context of U.S. empire and Vietnamese socialist revolution? Project 0395A.?C, a multi-media installation by Vietnamese artist, Ly Hoang Ly, intentionally structures and choreographs disorientation to grapple with the condition of being dispossessed at sea, as the Vietnamese refugee is suspended at sea and entangled in histories of French colonialism and caught at the crux of U.S. imperial war and Vietnamese socialist revolution. I argue that disorientation is a performative experience and method that performs an act of refusal to break voyeuristic modes of consuming histories of violence and reorients the body to another theory of Vietnamese refugee subjectivity. I analyze how Ly creates a performative installation and performs with water as the core aesthetic material used to frame, dialogue, and re-narrate a story of Vietnamese refugee subjectivity.     

Cold War brotherhood contested: KATUSAs,slicky boys,American G.I.s,and the Status of Forces Agreement in post-armistice South Korea, 1954–1966

ABSTRACT

As the largest contingent of Americans in postwar South Korea, the G.I. best represented the United States’ Cold War objectives. Their deployment was an emblem of hard power containment, but the G.I. also embodied soft power integration, and through both, G.I.s helped to promote Pax Americana. This article focuses on the militarized masculinity of these ambassadors of America and their people-to-people diplomacy in South Korea between 1954 and 1966. These American G.I.s constructed their militarized masculinity vis-à-vis the Korean male Other, their “lesser” counterparts – the hapless houseboy, the inferior partner soldier, and the menacing slicky boy. At the same time, this liberal imperialism did not go uncontested. Violent imaginaries of the American G.I. from the borderlands were used by Koreans to demand a new bilateral framework – the Status of Forces Agreement in 1966 – to replace the outmoded wartime extraterritorial jurisdiction wielded by the American military after cessation of hostilities on the Korean peninsula in 1953. The militarized masculinity practiced in everyday encounters, thus, became the basis of a critique of American liberal imperialism in one of the United States closest Cold War “brother” nations.

This article offers a personal view of Britain’s place in the contemporary world, analysed in terms of five interlocking rings: the traditional three, i.e. relations with the United States, with Europe and the Commonwealth, to which are added the concepts of process and soft power.
