两种经济理论：大众文化研究的新视野——基于约翰·费斯克理论的分析

费斯克关于两种经济的理论,即文化产品可以同时在两种同时存在、但并不相同的经济即金融经济和文化经济中流通,两种经济运载着两种不同的内容:金融经济流通的是财富,而文化经济则流通着意义、快感和社会认同。这一理论引发了关于大众文化的一系列新的思考方式:大众是"消费者"还是"生产者"?大众文化是文化工业的产物还是大众创造?意识形态是自上而下操纵还是也遭遇到了自下而上的抵抗?     

当代大众文化生成的语境分析

大众文化是依据一定的商业利益原则被大规模地“制造”出来的。它在当下时代的生成是一个具有深远影响的事件。现代版“图腾崇拜”的大众文化生成的语境包括:现代美学内涵的被颠覆,“新美学”的流行;后现代(含后殖民)平面化狂欢;消费主义的盛行;大众传媒及文化媒介人的操纵等。     

Differences in Effects of Domestic Violence Between Latina and Non-Latina Women

There has been much research on the effects of domestic violence on women; however, little research has focused on possible differences in reactions to domestic violence between Latina and non-Latina women. Comparable samples of Latina and non-Latina women were obtained and analyses revealed that there were no significant differences between the two samples with regard to the nature and severity of the domestic violence to which they were exposed. However, results indicated that Latina women who had been victims of domestic violence had significantly greater trauma-related symptoms, depression, lower social and personal self-esteem, and were less likely to make global attributions for positive events than were non-Latina women. They also reported more parenting stress due to their child's behaviors than did non-Latina women. The implications of these results in light of cultural differences between Latina and non-Latina women are discussed.

THE ROLE OF ATTENUATED CULTURE IN SOCIAL DISORGANIZATION THEORY*

Current criminological research rooted in social disorganization theory has primarily focused on structural disorganization and has largely ignored the role of cultural disorganization. This paper develops the theoretical role of cultural disorganization in the contemporary social disorganization model, integrating aspects of both the systemic model and a cultural attenuation model. This model is empirically examined using structural equation modeling. Survey data from residents in 66 neighborhoods in a Southern state provide the primary data. In part, the findings show that concentrated disadvantage and the level of social ties affect cultural strength, which in turn significantly affects informal social control. These findings demonstrate the relevance of weakened culture in explaining informal social control and call for further theoretical expansion of social disorganization models to include cultural disorganization.
