Anecdotal evidence suggests an increase in entitled attitudes and behaviors of youth in school and college settings. Using
a newly developed scale to assess “academic entitlement” (AE), a construct that includes expectations of high grades for modest
effort and demanding attitudes towards teachers, this research is the first to investigate the phenomenon systematically.
In two separate samples of ethnically diverse college students comprised largely of East and Southeast Asian American, followed
by Caucasians, Latinos, and other groups (total N = 839, age range 18–25 years), we examined the personality, parenting, and motivational correlates of AE. AE was most strongly
related to exploitive attitudes towards others and moderately related to an overall sense of entitlement and to narcissism.
Students who reported more academically entitled attitudes perceived their parents as exerting achievement pressure marked
by social comparison with other youth and materially rewarding good grades, scored higher than their peers in achievement
anxiety and extrinsic motivation, and engaged in more academic dishonesty. AE was not significantly associated with GPA.

Profiles and Correlates of Relational Aggression in Young Adults’ Romantic Relationships 总被引:2,自引:1,他引:1

The present study examines prevalence and correlates of experiencing and perpetrating relational aggression in the context
of young adults’ romantic relationships. We assess correlates of relational aggression in four domains of risk: (1) Social-cognitive,
(2) Relationship, (3) Trait/dispositional, and (4) Mental health. Results indicate that modest involvement in relational aggression
is relatively common. Females reported higher levels of perpetration whereas males reported higher levels of victimization.
Relational aggression and victimization were related to each domain of risk for both men and women, although different patterns
of findings emerged for each domain. For example, individuals who reported perpetrating relational aggression in their romantic
relationships believed that aggression was most acceptable (social-cognitive risk) whereas individuals who reported experiencing
relational aggression (as victims) were more likely to indicate that their self worth is contingent on relationships and that
romantic relationships are very important to them (dispositional risk). Respondents who reported either perpetrating or experiencing
relational aggression had higher levels of exclusivity in their relationships and were more likely to describe their relationships
in anxious attachment terms (relationship risk). They also reported higher levels of depressive and anxious symptoms (mental
health risk). Implications of these results for theory and prevention and intervention efforts are discussed.

This study examines individual and partner characteristics associated with the perpetration of intimate partner violence (IPV)
in young adult relationships with opposite sex partners. Using data from Waves 1 and 3 of the National Longitudinal Study
of Adolescent Health, this study examined 1,275 young adults’ heterosexual romantic relationships. Controlling for the effects
of family and school correlates measured in adolescence, we examined the extent to which participants’ general violent behavior
in young adulthood and their partners’ use of violence in their relationship influence participants’ IPV perpetration. We
found that both having general violent tendencies and being a target of violence in a relationship influenced one’s likelihood
of young adults perpetrating IPV. We also tested whether the overall influence of participants’ general violent behavior on
IPV perpetration was moderated by their partners’ use of violence in the relationship. We found that young women’s greatest
expression of violent tendencies emerged when in relationships with violent men; yet, when partnered with non-violent men,
young women’s own violent tendencies did not lead to IPV. We found little evidence for the interactive effect for young men
in the study. The lack of a significant interaction in the model indicated that young men’s general aggression was not conditioned
on their partners’ use of physical aggression in their relationships.

Electronic documents often contain personal or confidential information, which can be used as valuable evidence in criminal investigations. In the digital investigation, special techniques are required for grouping and screening electronic documents, because it is challenging to analyze relationships between numerous documents in storage devices manually. To this end, although techniques such as keyword search, similarity search, topic modeling, metadata analysis, and document clustering are continually being studied, there are still limitations for revealing the relevance of documents. Specifically, metadata used in previous research are not always values present in the documents, and clustering methods with specific keywords may be incomplete because text‐based contents (including metadata) can be easily modified or deleted by users. In this work, we propose a novel method to efficiently group Microsoft Office Word 2007+ (MS Word) files by using revision identifier (RSID). Through a thorough understanding of the RSID, examiners can predict organizations to which a specific user belongs, and further, it is likely to discover unexpected interpersonal relationships. An experiment with a public dataset (GovDocs) provides that it is possible to categorize documents more effectively by combining our proposal with previously studied methods. Furthermore, we introduce a new document tracking method to understand the editing history and movement of a file, and then demonstrate its usefulness through an experiment with documents from a real case. 相似文献

ABSTRACT The sexual double standard posits that men and women are perceived differently for their sexual experiences, including experiences of sexual violence and misconduct. This study explores these gendered perceptions for situations involving teacher-student sexual contact where the student is a minor. A quasi-experimental vignette design (n?=?648 respondents), where the gender of the teacher and student, is used to explore how both same and opposite sex teacher-student gender dyads shape perceptions of the teacher and student, including responsibility, positive outcomes for the student, and punitive attitudes. We found that men are less likely to hold the teacher responsible and more likely to indicate positive student outcomes while women are more punitive toward the teacher. Respondent sexual orientation largely did not influence perceptions. We situate these findings in the literature on child sexual abuse involving authority figures and the implications for theory are discussed. 相似文献

Much of the discourse on intimate partner violence assumes that women must end their relationship with their abusive partner
to increase their safety and emotional well-being. Few studies, however, exist to support this assumption. Equally problematic,
those studies that do exist have failed to distinguish women who leave and stay out from those who leave only to later return.
Comparing emotional well-being and experiences of violence for 206 low-income, primarily Black battered women following different
relationship trajectories, this longitudinal study found that women both separated from and together with their partner for
the entire year of the study fared best at the end of that year compared to women “in” and “out” of the relationship over
time. Beyond challenging common assumptions, these findings highlight the importance of considering the larger context within
which an individual instance of leaving occurs.
