中国古代早期的原生态政治面面观

中国古代早期的政治活动深深地渗透和贯彻在人们的饮食、两性关系、家庭亲情、身体等治序乃至生命快乐之中.以其“治道”与“身道”的彻底统一,以其对“生命和谐”至极宗旨的追求,体现为一种“祛政治化”的“原生态政治”.在不同的政治文明对话和重建人类政治文明的今天,“原生态政治”的重新发掘不仅有助于对中国古代政治学的正本清源,也可为当今人类克服其愈演愈烈的“政治异化”现象提供有益的理论和实践的借鉴.     

“后死之悲”与“年命之嗟”——钱钟书旧体诗二题

现代中国学人之所以逐渐做到了“学术的自觉和自律”,其直接原因有二:其一即传统儒者的政治主体在历史摧折中已不堪负重,因而在他们身上早期就潜伏的出世之想,迅速地成为现实中最重要的生命需要;其二则是由于社会生产方式和分配体制在现代中国的巨大转型,不仅彻底扫荡了古代隐士们可以暂避风头的一切山中林泉,而且同时也直接摧毁了旧日世家残存的故居旧巢。如果说在学术研究中钱氏的“后死之悲”与“年命之嗟”相对不易明见,那么在作为其“学之别体”的旧体诗作中,这些思想情感则以直抒胸臆的方式构成了他诗篇中最鲜明的特征。     

“异化劳动”范畴的双重向度论析

"异化劳动"不仅仅是一个"道德"范畴或"伦理"概念,具有生命向度,它同时也是一个"历史"范畴,具有历史向度。而生命向度与历史向度的连接点便是辩证法,辩证法超出了方法论的界限,构成了"异化劳动"范畴的"问题结构"。通过对历史的辩证把握,在历史的进程中,生命实现了自身的否定和超越,趋近于生命的自我实现;通过对历史进程中生命现象的辩证把握,历史获得了主体性的意义和价值。二者是本质同一的。只有"总体性"地从这双重视角切入,才有可能窥见"异化劳动"范畴的真实内涵以及其在马克思唯物史观形成中的重要意义。

The organization of work as a factor in social well-being

Even though innovations in the organization of work have prompted a transition in work systems, the effect of the organization on employees is often not considered. Using personal interviews, direct observations, and relevant documents over a 17-month period, this case study of a worker-owned and -managed producer cooperative was undertaken to understand how fundamental changes in the organization of work affect workers and their families. The findings affirm that the organization of work is a pivotal aspect of individuals' quality of life, principally in that expanding personal choice--in a context of income security and an absence of formal hierarchy--enhances personal and familial well-being. From a policy perspective, the study demonstrates the potential for organizing work so that market demands are balanced with concerns for social well-being

A TEST OF LIFE‐COURSE EXPLANATIONS FOR STABILITY AND CHANGE IN ANTISOCIAL BEHAVIOR FROM ADOLESCENCE TO YOUNG ADULTHOOD*

Using longitudinal data from a sample of 236 young adults and their romantic partners, we tested a life‐course model that integrates social control and peer influence arguments with the idea of assortative mating. For both males and females, adolescent delinquency and affiliation with deviant peers predicted having an antisocial romantic partner as a young adult. Involvement with an antisocial romantic partner, in turn, had both a direct effect on crime as well as indirect influence through adult peer affiliations. For females, quality of the romantic relationship also predicted crime. The analyses revealed several moderating influences in addition to these mediating effects. For females, a conventional romantic partner, strong job attachment, and conventional adult friends all served to moderate the chances that a woman with a delinquent history would graduate to adult crime. In contrast, only conventional adult friends served this function for males.     

Psychosocial correlates of recidivism in a sample of ex-prisoners: the role of oppositional defiant disorder and conduct disorder

The present study aimed to (a) examine the role of Oppositional defiant disorder (ODD) and Conduct disorder (CD) in predicting recidivism, while controlling for childhood arrest, perceived neighbourhood crime frequency, alcohol consumption, age and gender, and (b) explore the relevance of these factors in predicting risk of recidivism for males and females separately. Participants were 669 ex-prisoners identified in the National Survey of American Life. Results revealed that gender, CD and average daily alcohol consumption predicted recidivism. When separate models were estimated for males and females, only average daily alcohol consumption was predictive of female recidivism. By comparison, recidivism was significantly predicted in males by CD in youth and childhood arrest. ODD was also negatively associated with recidivism in males. Consequently, targeting variables identified as significant predictors of recidivism for both males and females, or males, is unlikely to be an optimal way of reducing repeat offending.     

Expectations about victim and offender behaviour during stranger rape

The aim of this study was to examine expectations about victim and offender behaviours during stranger rape. These expectations were compared with the empirically derived data of actual victim and offender behaviours. Furthermore, three attitudes/beliefs were assessed in relation to these expectations: rape myth acceptance, gender role attitudes and belief in a just world (BJW). Seven hundred and fifty-eight undergraduates took part in the study. The results show that participants significantly overestimated the frequency of 29 out of the 30 victim and offender behaviours examined (one behaviour was underestimated). An inconsistent relationship was found in predicting the expectancies via rape myth acceptance, gender role attitudes and BJW. These findings are examined in the context of the criminal justice system and how expectancy violation may affect the perception of rape victim and offenders' behaviours.
