清末警务学堂消防队：警察教育与警务实践有效结合的历史个案

清末北京警务学堂消防队,既是学堂内的警察教育对象,同时又是一支经常参与警务实践的实战队伍,其将教育、实践紧密结合的有效机制,充分体现了警察教育的特殊规律,值得后人借鉴。     

Representing the state? School and teacher in post‐Sendero Peru⋆

The school and the teacher give rise to different images and sets of meaning. Locating schools is a technique of government and teachers are supposed to act as mediators between state and society. But teachers are also local intellectuals and have actively engaged in discourses of dissent and challenges to the state. This article explores the changing identity, situation and representation of provincial schoolteachers in post‐conflict Andean Peru. It draws on material from Tarma province to debate the extent to which the former racist “social order”, upheld by school and teacher, has been destabilised and superseded.

'Talking in Fictions': Jennings on Parliament

Sir Ivor Jennings made many ground-breaking contributions to the study of Parliament. Among them are two books written in the 1930s, while Jennings was at the peak of his powers: Parliamentary Reform in 1934, ¹ and Parliament in 1939. ² This essay offers an assessment of Jennings' scholarship on Parliament. It commences with some observations on his method, and this is followed by an outline of the argument in Parliament and an appraisal of the book's originality and ongoing significance. The essay closes with some brief remarks concerning Jennings' Parliamentary Reform .

Direct fluorometric determination of cyanide in human materials

A detailed procedure of a new simple fluorometric assay for cyanide in human blood, stomach contents and urine is presented. This method requires neither diffusion nor distillation of cyanide from samples; small amounts of the samples were directly added to incubation mixtures, which were then heated at 80 °C for 45 min and acidified for fluorescence measurements. Our method is much more rapid than the previous ones. Some data are presented on specificity and sensitivity of the present method.     

九寨沟县城校园暴力的调查与思考

九寨沟县城校园暴力主要体现为学生之间打架时管制刀具的滥用，群体性、低龄化特征明显。教学资源紧张只是诱因，校园受社会打架斗殴氛围影响较大。当地管制刀具屡禁不止与民族性藏刀问题无关，却与地广人稀环境有联系，校园也受其影响。在地广人稀地区“一乡一所”，存在警力负荷不均与警力不足的问题，警力进校园遇到难题。学校加强学生纠纷处理能力培养，公安机关做实事前预防。让公权力主导社会安全的理念深入人心是基本对策。     

Accounting for Anglo-Hispanic Differences in School Misbehavior

Abstract

This study examined the main and interaction effects of social acceptance, aggression, and gang involvement on serious school misbehavior in a sample of 152 middle school age Hispanic and Anglo males. High social acceptance and high aggression (or gang involvement) were hypothesized to predict serious school misbehavior for Hispanic males, but not Anglo males. Our hypotheses for the model including aggression were supported. The findings for aggression, but not gang involvement, are consistent with social learning and code-of-the-streets theories.
