英汉翻译教学的审美之兴

翻译教学和实践离不开美学。当代中国美学的理论转型为“翻译美学”的建立作了理论上的铺垫。“兴”是“审美的存在状态”,是标示审美活动区别于其他所有活动的最本质的东西,是审美活动的“本质”。没有审美活动的翻译是不存在的。对“兴”这一不能再还原的基本事实的描述和反思构成了现代美学的核心内容,也应是英汉翻译美学的核心内容。作为方法论的中国美学在英汉翻译教学和实践中自然地起着支配作用。     

三十年来我国满铁研究现状述评

满铁（南满洲铁道株式会社）是日本设在中国最大的“国策会社”,是日本在中国搜集军事、政治、社会、文化等情报的特殊机构。日本战败后,满铁大部分资料留存于中国,分散于中国国内的数十家图书馆。这批规模巨大、卷帙浩繁的满铁资料,是我们研究东北亚近现代史、近现代中日关系史和中国东北地方史极为珍贵的第一手资料。三十年来我国的满铁文献资料,整理和出版及学术研究都取得了令人瞩目的成就,但也存在一些问题需要引起我们的重视。     

跨文化翻译维护国家文化安全的策略研究

全球化进程既是机遇亦是挑战，世界格局也因此而发生了深刻的变革。机遇意味着发展，不同文化之间的竞争也随之愈演愈烈。在不同文明的交融和碰撞中，国家文化的安全问题凸显出来。国际格局呈现出多极化趋势，文化间的交流与合作是时代的潮流，但是国际环境依然存在不确定性因素，威胁世界和平的单边主义、霸权主义和强权政治等国际因素依然活跃。复杂多变的国际形势要求维护国家文化安全，跨文化翻译涉及文化间的交流，对文化安全负有责任。跨文化翻译工作者应当树立起文化安全意识，并将其与跨文化语境意识结合起来，从国家文化安全的立场出发，提升翻译的语言水平，尊重文化差异，灵活运用“归化”和“异化”的翻译策略，形成具有中国文化特色的英语表达模式。跨文化翻译事业要重点塑造和维护国家形象，积极参与国际对话，提升中国的国际话语权，还要吸收其他国家优秀的文化成果，增强中国文化的国际影响力和感召力，打破“沉默的螺旋”。跨文化翻译要始终坚持中国传统文化的民族性和先进性。在推进翻译事业的过程中，维护中国语言文字安全、风俗习惯安全、价值观安全和生活方式安全，从而全面提升中国文化的软实力，坚定中国模式和文化产品的自信心。跨文化翻译事业将融入中国走向世界的进程，通过对精品文化的内外流通严格把关，为国家的文化安全建设保驾护航。     

对60课版《新概念英语》第四册部分篇目标题翻译的不同看法

60课版的《新概念英语》第四册,是中国大学生中非常流行的英语读物,但其部分篇目标题的中文翻译存在不少值得商榷之处。     

Mimetic creativity in Japanese translations of Edgar Allen Poe

Abstract:

This study of contemporary Japanese translations of selected stories of Edgar Allen Poe argues that contemporary translators have adopted a creative strategy of translation that succeeds in avoiding what Berman has called ‘the destruction of underlying networks of signification’. In a writer of gothic horror such as Poe, chains of expression that establish a mood and visualization are vital to building the reader’s sense of fear and anticipation. The current study shows that the Japanese translators employ sound symbolism and alliteration to create a feeling akin to that in Poe, yet their application of such techniques is distributed differently than in Poe’s original language, and differently from one another. This article examines the use of mimetics in four contemporary Japanese translations of two of Poe’s gothic horror narratives and two translations of one detective narrative. The results show that the Japanese translators used mimetic words in their translations at rates similar to those found in recent studies of selected writers of modern and contemporary fiction. The second finding is that when translating the passages containing the seventy-six sound-symbolic forms in the English source text, the translators of Poe used Japanese mimetic terms 34 per cent of the time. The third finding is that the 34 per cent figure for percentage of sound-symbolic English words translated with mimetic expressions in the target text represented only 12 percent of the total number of mimetics (355 tokens) used in the Japanese translations. The fourth finding reveals an overlap in translator use of a mimetic averaging 42.6 per cent.

PARENTAL INVOLVEMENT IN THE CRIMINAL JUSTICE SYSTEM AND THE DEVELOPMENT OF YOUTH THEFT,MARIJUANA USE,DEPRESSION, AND POOR ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE*

Explanations for the fact that crime tends to run in families have focused on the deprived social backgrounds of criminal parents, methods of child‐rearing, modeling processes, and genetic mechanisms. However, parental involvement in the criminal justice system itself also might contribute to the intergenerational transmission of crime and have other adverse effects on children's well‐being. We investigated the development of youth problem behavior in relation to parental arrest, conviction, and incarceration in the youngest and oldest samples of the Pittsburgh Youth Study, a longitudinal survey of 1,009 inner‐city boys. Parental arrest and conviction without incarceration did not predict the development of youth problem behavior. Parental incarceration was not associated with increases in marijuana use, depression, or poor academic performance. However, boys experiencing parental incarceration showed greater increases in theft compared with a control group matched on propensity scores. The association between parental incarceration and youth theft was stronger for White youth than for Black youth. Parenting and peer relations after parental incarceration explained about half of its effects on youth theft. Because the effects of parental incarceration were specific to youth theft, labeling and stigma processes might be particularly important for understanding the consequences of parental incarceration for children.     

青年研究的发展历程和学术视野

通过对世界范围内青年研究学术历史积淀的梳理,以及对青年研究在我国作为社会科学的一个学科领域的发展历程的回顾,分析了当代青年研究的学术范畴和研究视野。在我国社会科学的分类中,青年研究属于社会学学科范畴。当今的青年研究工作者要树立使命感和责任感,保持理论探索的勇气,深入实际调查研究,在继承的基础上发展,实现研究范式、研究工具和研究方法的创新,拓宽研究领域,丰富研究成果。     

从英汉思维差异看电影片名翻译

思维是翻译的基础,电影片名的不同体现了英汉思维方式的差异.因此,对电影片名的翻译必须从思维和语言的关系入手,通过对比东西方不同的思维方式及其在电影片名中的表现,努力探索在进行电影片名翻译时应选择的相应的翻译策略,以期适合译入语观众的思维模式.     

浅谈古典诗歌中的地名英译问题

意象是融入了主观情意的客观物象,或者是借助客观物象表现出来的主观情意,。在诗歌中,地名既可作为一般意义上的地理名词存在,也可寄寓诗人的主观情感而构成诗歌意象。"三化"理论(深化、等化、浅化)作为传达诗歌"意美"的有效手段,也是诗歌地名英译的重要方法。将意象的概念引入诗歌地名英译中,在"三化"理论的框架下探讨古典诗歌地名英译的具体方法,或可为诗歌英译提供些微思路。
