Down to Earth: Race and Substance in the Andes

Abstract — The racial identities of Indians and mestizos in a highland Peruvian region are closely associated with their relative positions to the earth. The agricultural Indians are closer to the earth and the town-dwelling mestizos are further from it. This distinction is maintained and reinforced through the use of material objects in everyday life, especially earthen objects (adobe bricks, clay pots, dirt roads) and to earth-touching objects (shoes, floors). This distinction accords with the relativity and fluidity of racial identities of individuals. The origins of this notion are traced to political and religious ideology in colonial and post-colonial Peru.     

转变经济发展方式的发展经济学考察

当前,世界经济处于脆弱的复苏期,这对于经济处于工业化中期阶段的中国来说既是挑战,也是进行结构调整,加速转变经济发展方式的战略机遇。要实现经济发展方式的良性转变,实现经济平稳增长,需要重新检视有关经济增长与发展的观念、政策,科学有效地推动经济发展方式的转变。     

The consumption of patriarchy: commodification to facilitation and reification

There is an abundance of research from cultural, critical and feminist criminology that has recognized media as a vehicle to propagate various forms of gender inequality and violence against women. Likewise, there has been extensive research on how childhood products and toys replicate the patriarchal construction of gender. However, these bodies of research have been relatively silent on how the commodification of culture is consumed and reified by the very population it oppresses (i.e. women). Here, we argue that violence against women is commodified and eagerly consumed in an age of neo-liberalism, legitimizing the patriarchal power structures that subordinate women. Our goal is to begin a discussion of female consumption of the commodification that gives consent and facilitates the patriarchal perpetual power system. Using examples from media and the consumer market, we hope to begin a broader discussion of how patriarchy, gender roles and inequality are reinforced through everyday banal consumption by both sexes. However, this banal consumption by females not only lends to the legitimization of the heteronormative patriarchal status quo but also makes them active participants in the continuation of inequality and power structures inherent within this patriarchal society.     

消费安全的法律规制——达芬奇事件引发的思考

达芬奇公司的虚假宣传和虚假标识行为已构成对消费者的欺诈,不仅损害了消费者的合法权益,还扰乱了市场经济秩序。消费者安全权属于经济法的权利范畴,政府应当承担起规制市场失灵、维护消费安全的职责,选择正确的规制工具并及时执行法律。只有将信息规制、私的规制等规制工具加以组合运用,并保证刑罚作为规制的后盾,完善消费安全规制的制度路径,才能有效保障消费安全。     

小城镇各阶层家庭消费结构实证研究——以S小城镇调查为例

本文从消费的角度分析社会分层的现象,采用这种方法的一个原因是消费的概念可以揭示一个事实：消费嵌入于具体的社会关系中。通过对S小城镇家庭消费结构的实证研究,说明消费不仅仅是意义的符号游戏,而与地位概念相对立。总的来说,家庭的消费不仅被所属的社会阶级所型塑,而且也为其所属阶级和其他阶级之间的关系所型塑。     

基于能耗的碳排放研究

粗放式经济的发展导致高强度的碳排放,面对全球气候变化的严峻形势,低碳经济给出了一条可持续的发展之路。我国是一个人口大国,经济发展规模较大加上经济结构不合理,导致能耗高、碳排放强度大,为了减少碳排放,应对气候变暖的危机,我们必须走低碳经济之路,国家要开征碳税,引导合理的能源消费,由粗放型经济向集约型的低碳经济转变,调整产业结构,优化能源消费结构,提高能源的最终利用效率,从而达到经济效益和环境效益的＂双赢＂。     

中国公众的政治疏离感及其影响因素

在西方政治学研究中,政治疏离感是一个长期得到重视的话题,西方学者普遍认为政治疏离感会影响政治的稳定性,从而过分强调了其反政治性。然而,在非西方社会尤其是中国,分析政治疏离感形成模式上的多样性和其文化基础却是需要研究的重点。笔者基于北京大学中国国情研究中心"2008年中国公民意识调查"的数据进行了定量分析,发现中国公众的政治疏离感主要受到性别、教育、政治涉入、政府评价的影响。     

Ventilatory and metabolic demands during aggressive physical restraint in healthy adults

We investigated ventilatory and metabolic demands in healthy adults when placed in the prone maximal restraint position (PMRP), i.e., hogtie restraint. Maximal voluntary ventilation (MVV) was measured in seated subjects (n=30), in the PMRP, and when prone with up to 90.1 or 102.3 kg of weight on the back. MVV with the heaviest weight was 70% of the seated MVV (122+/-28 and 156+/-38 L/min, respectively; p<0.001). Also, subjects (n=27) were placed in the PMRP and struggled vigorously for 60 sec. During the restrained struggle, ventilatory function (V(E)/ MVV) was 44% of MVV in the resting PMRP. While prone with up to 90.1 or 102.3 kg on the back, the decrease in MVV was of no clinical importance in these subjects. Also, while maximally struggling in the PMRP, V(E) was still adequate to supply the ventilatory needs.     

HELPING ALIENATED CHILDREN WITH FAMILY BRIDGES: PRACTICE, RESEARCH, AND THE PURSUIT OF "HUMBITION"

This article briefly summarizes and responds to feedback offered by Joan Kelly regarding Family Bridges: A Workshop for Troubled and Alienated Parent–Child Relationships™. We emphasize principles that promote an educational atmosphere, as opposed to a therapeutic one, and the court's role in contributing to successful interventions with severely alienated children. Among the considerations discussed are: working with favored parents, economic comparisons of Family Bridges with counseling approaches, modifying the program for use in prevention and with milder cases of alienation, and issues related to training additional team leaders and conducting outcome research.     

我国农村宅基地使用权流转的现状考察

农村宅基地是农村土地的重要组成部分,宅基地使用权是农民的一项最基本的财产权利,农村宅基地使用权是否可以流转的问题一直以来都是社会各界关注的焦点。本文主要考察了我国在立法上对我国农村宅基地使用权流转的规范与态度,以及我国的司法实务现状,并通过实证调查的方式考察了我国农村宅基地使用权流转在现实生活中的实际情况及其存在的问题与原因,旨在为宅基地使用权制度完善提供参考依据。
