Improving Father Involvement in Child Welfare Practice and Research: Conceptual Considerations from the Social Science Literature

The positive benefits to children of their fathers' involvement in their lives have been well documented in the social science literature. This article reviews related child welfare literature and argues that several important concepts informing father involvement research in the social sciences—the significance of the parents' relationship, the potentially dangerous behaviors of fathers, and emerging trends in low-income families—need to be incorporated into work on father involvement in the child welfare context, in order to maximize the effectiveness of involvement efforts as well as the potential benefits to children. Implications for child welfare practice include the need for intensive involvement efforts, attention to fathers' progress in treatment, services to strengthen parental relationships and improve coparenting, and expansion of service eligibility to all those who play parental roles in children's lives. Implications for research include the need for studies examining the different kinds of fathers in child welfare households, how parental dynamics influence child and parent outcomes, and the influence fathers' problems may have in moderating the effects of their involvement on children.     

Organizational Structure,Work Involvement,and Job Performance of Public Servants

The purpose of this study is to understand the predicting role of organizational structure on job performance. Work involvement is tested as a mediator in the hypothesized link. The study presents the results of a cross-sectional survey of 256 public servants in public service departments and agencies in Malaysia. The research results have provided marginal support for the key theoretical propositions. The significant and positive impact of job codification indicates the importance of this factor in predicting job performance of public servants. The empirical link is mediated by work involvement, which suggests that there is an indirect influence of job codification on job performance. This study aims to provide additional empirical evidence on the influence of organizational structure and job performance in the public sector.     

Electoral alliance with sworn opponent political party: factors impacting voting intention

Alliance with sworn political opponents is becoming a growing phenomenon within the realm of political alliances. Here, two or more competitive political parties join hands to defeat a particular common opponent. During election, alliance partners face election together and distribute electoral seats mutually to avoid vote share. However, ensuring vote in favour of opponent alliance candidate is only possible when voters prefer to cast vote for the alliance candidate. Thus, this is crucial to know influencing factors that shape voters’ voting intention in favour of opponent alliance candidate. This study is an attempt to empirically investigate factors that have significant influence to shape voters’ voting intention for opponent alliance. The result shows that opponent alliance perceived fit impacts opponent alliance voting intention positively. Opponent alliance brand trust has a positive impact on opponent alliance voting intention. In addition, opponent alliance preference impacts opponent alliance voting intention positively.     

外来农民团伙性犯罪探析

外来农民团伙性侵财犯罪是近几年出现的一个新的犯罪苗头,其区域性、流窜性、专业性、职业化的特征值得引起重视。目前此类犯罪大有重化、高发的趋势,在一定程度上影响了社会的稳定和经济的发展。文章结合该类犯罪,联系近年来打掉的外来农民犯罪团伙,深入进行了剖析,从多个层面客观地审视新形势下社会管理和公安工作,力求为打击防范该类犯罪提供更多的借鉴和思考。     

对网络涉警啸聚事件的考证

＂网络游行时代＂,草根阶层在对涉警负面事件表达态度和倾向时,往往自发地啸聚于网络街头,掀起舆论狂潮。受网络技术和公众道德水平的限制和制约,网络草根啸聚游走在＂民意表达＂与＂民意裹胁＂之间,成为影响当今社会的一把＂双刃剑＂。一方面,它有利于社会压力的释放和缓解,有助于社会在动态中保持和谐与平衡;另一方面,它又是社会矛盾激化的刺激因素,极易诱发现实社会中群体性事件的发生。     

The impact of online negative word-of-mouth on customer purchase decision for the travel websites

The major purpose of this study is to explore the impact of online negative word-of-mouth （WOM） on customer purchase decision for the travel websites in Taiwan. Online questionnaire surveys were adopted, total of 374 responses were received and 249 of them were valid. Factor analysis was applied to extract key factors, and then multiple regression analysis was used to measure the relationship amongst variables. The major findings of this study include： （1） The three features of negative WOM, including the strength of information, sender＇s expertise and the strength of relationship between sender and receiver, have significant impacts on customer purchase decision; （2） trust plays a mediator role between negative WOM and customer purchase decision; （3） involvement has partial mediator effect amongst negative WOM, trust and customer purchase decision.

在当前日益严峻的少年犯罪形势中,帮伙犯罪尤为突出。应当加强对少年帮伙犯罪的研究,通过向少年及其家庭提供支持、以立法形式明确教师惩戒权、整治文化环境中的暴力资讯、加强社区内娱乐场所的管理、阻断帮派对社区和校园的入侵以及转化未成年人脱离不良帮伙等措施,有效预防少年帮伙犯罪的发生。     

Melting Down and Scaling Up: Stabilizing Climate Change by Promoting Private Sector Technology Development

This paper will examine the role the private sector plays in researching, developing, and deploying technology that has the potential to deter or decrease the impacts of global warming. It will explore the degree to which the private sector can have an impact on global warming by focusing on four specific technologies: aircraft engines, wind turbines, solar energy, and clean coal technologies. We will compare the environmental impact of these technologies with the business case for pursuing each, specifically related to profitability and market maturity. We conclude that the business case alone is not sufficiently compelling to stimulate meaningful industry investment in these areas. Consequently, specific government involvement is needed for CO₂ reduction. This analysis will shed light on the role that government must play in order to more effectively engage potential private sector players in the global warming challenge.

农民工问题历来是党和政府高度重视的问题,他们的情感状况更是不容忽视;特别是他们身份认同状况,关系到他们融入城市社会的程度。基于2013年流动人口调查数据,立足于社会支持、社会参与的视角,探究对农民工身份认同的影响,可以得出:社会支持中的实际支持而非社交支持,对农民工的社会参与有显著影响;社交支持、实际支持和社会参与,均显著影响农民工的身份认同;社会参与是实际支持影响认同感的一个可能的中介变量。     

各行其道：刑民冲突案件的审理思路——以非法吸收公众存款、集资诈骗和民间借贷纠纷案件的冲突为视角

审理刑民冲突案件的前提是确定刑事诉讼程序与民事诉讼程序的启动与否以及处理刑民案件时的先后顺序。＂刑民独立、并行为主＂应为审理之基本原则,并以＂先刑后民＂、＂先民后刑＂为例外。非法吸收公众存款、集资诈骗案件与民间借贷案件之间的冲突是刑民冲突的典型表现,司法实践中的处理各有不同。
