从作为活动主体的人和思想政治教育学科的本质特性这两个基本视点来看，思想政治教育功能就是意识形态功能和人文认知功能。构建社会主义和谐社会需要充分发挥意识形态功能和人文认知功能。     

恩格斯历史合力论:当代中国政治体制改革的进路选择

恩格斯的历史合力论思想是马克思主义学说的核心部分,在内涵上主要表现为社会发展中经济基础与上层建筑以及阶级意志之间的相对平衡的合力论。然而,由于认识上的偏颇,对它的误读造成了两种路向的舛误,即生产力自流决定论和主体导引决定论。文章通过对恩格斯历史合力论思想的深入挖掘,结合我国政治体制改革的现状,对我们今天如何防止和规避两种路向的舛误,更好地科学把握当代中国政治体制改革的进路进行了阐述。

Islamic Fundamentalism and Women's Employment in Indonesia

It is commonly observed that the economic position of women seems particularly precarious in countries where political Islam is on the ascendant. The usual interpretation is that the first condition is a result of the second. Drawing on evidence from a wide variety of countries, but particularly Indonesia, this paper demonstrates that Islamic doctrines are by no means universal, that they do not invariably discriminate against women in economic terms. A review of the recent economic and political changes leading to the rise of political Islam and changes in female labour market participation patterns suggests that establishing a causal relationship between the two is problematic and can be misleading. Evidence from Indonesia challenges ideological reductionism based on stereotypical assumptions about the impact of Islam to explain women's economic roles.²

This paper is a review essay of three books representing new research into the relationship between Cold War mobilization and postwar American political development: Michael Hogan, A Cross of Iron: Harry S. Truman and the Origins of the National Security State, 1945–1954 (Cambridge University Press, 1998); Guy Oakes, The Imaginary War: Civil Defense and American Cold War Culture (Oxford University Press, 1994); and Peter Trubowitz, Defining the National Interest: Conflict and Change in American Foreign Policy (University of Chicago Press, 1998).     

对做好新时期思想政治工作的几点认识

党的十八大描绘了在新的历史条件下加快推进社会主义现代化、夺取中国特色社会主义新胜利的宏伟蓝图，也为今后思想政治工作指明了方向。新时期的思想政治工作，具有工作大环境更为复杂、工作对象思维更加活跃、传统工作方式面临巨大挑战等特点。因此，做好思想政治工作，一是加强学习，提高思想政治工作者素质；二是重视宣传教育，强化思想引导；三是虚实结合，增强思想政治工作的实效性。     

Destructive Competition or Competition Destroyed? Regulatory Theory and the History of Irish Road Transportation Legislation

The principal aim of our study is to contribute to the debate over whether regulation is enacted in the interest of consumers, producers, political agents, or some combination of these. We examine the legislative debates and subsequent regulatory bills surrounding road transportation regulation in Ireland in light of the three dominant theories which purport to explain the existence of regulation: the public interest theory and the so-called Chicago and Virginia theories. A unique feature of our study is an attempt to integrate specific rhetorical concepts used in the public policy debates into the theoretical analysis of regulation. One noteworthy conclusion of our study is that theories of economic processes affect the shaping and results of public policy.     

动荡的多党制——土耳其共和国政治民主化一瞥

土耳其共和国的政体在由一党专制向多党民主制的转变过程中,不断激起巨大的社会波动,甚至在上世纪60至80年代曾先后三次导致军队发动政变干政,社会秩序才得以恢复.当年,土耳其国内有不少人对多党民主制抱有一种不切实际的期望,以为只要有了它,就能够解决改革过程中遇到的一切困难,保证国民经济快速发展.然而,作为一种运行逻辑十分复杂的现代政治体制,只有具备了一系列重要的社会条件后,它才能够发挥建设性的作用.否则,贸然实行多党制,反而不利于国家稳定和经济发展.     

和谐社会视阈下的冲突与和谐

冲突是人类社会不可避免的政治现象，冲突与合作是政治生活的常态。迄今为止，还没有哪个社会完全没有冲突。因此，构建社会主义和谐社会也必定是在冲突中寻求和谐与秩序，实现从冲突到秩序转化的社会。而实现冲突的制度化调控则是构建和谐社会的必由之路。
