Stirring up virtual punishment: a case of citizen journalism,authenticity and shaming

Film clips and still pictures captured by civilians are increasingly used as evidence to prove specific accounts of events. This kind of visual data are not without problems, however. The aim of this paper was to analyse how viewers perceived a citizen journalistic mobile phone film clip as naturalistic data, enabling processes of shaming and eventually a ‘justice’ process on the Internet, including virtual punishment of the person filmed by the citizen journalist. In the clip, a taxi driver records video of an agitated female customer whom he hinders from leaving the taxi. The film is then distributed on YouTube, where it attracts remarkable negative attention. However, the citizen journalist’s film clip is only one of several possible accounts of the filmed incident, as demonstrated by the police crime report about the incident as an alternative account showing that viewers cannot rely on the citizen journalistic film clip as objective, naturalistic data.     

操作系统实验室虚拟化方案研究

本文从实际应用出发,分析了操作系统实验室的需求特点与当前应用状况,从硬件配置、软件选择、安装、部署与管理等多方面分析了桌面级虚拟化方案和服务器级虚拟化方案。经过对比研究,指出桌面级虚拟化方案更适合操作系统实验室环境。本文还从实验室管理的角度分析了还原卡在部署与管理方面的限制与不足,建议引入具有行业标准的自动化部署工具与方案,并使用成熟的目录服务进行日常的实验室管理,以实现用户数据安全与隔离,实验状态数据保存等系统实验室迫切且需要的功能。     

A novel method for sorting and reassociating commingled human remains using deviation analysis

This study provides an innovative and novel method for sorting commingled human remains at the sacroiliac joint using deviation analyses. Virtual models were created at the University of Tennessee-Knoxville Donated Skeletal Collection from 69 os coxae and 66 sacra using an EinScan-Pro 2× + Handheld Surface Scanner. The shape of the auricular surfaces was analyzed in Geomagic Wrap 2017, and the congruency of the two auricular surfaces was measured using a deviation analysis. ROC curves were performed on a reference sample composed of 200 commingled and non-commingled joint pairs to identify threshold values that could help sort the commingled remains. A validation sample of 225 pairs was subsequently analyzed to demonstrate the efficacy of this new method on a sample of unknown individuals. Statistical analyses demonstrated that the deviation analysis values from sacroiliac joints of commingled pairs were significantly larger than those from non-commingled individuals (p < 0.0001). Based on the selected threshold values, 98%–100% of pairs were correctly sorted and reassociated. This novel and objective technique improves upon previously subjective strategies for sorting commingled remains and, in the future, will be applied to additional joint surfaces.

大学生心理异常现象的现状及对策分析

通过调研近期大学生心理异常现象,归纳出精神病症状、神经症、人格障碍等类型的“心理异常”,分析了生物因素、社会因素、心理因素等对大学生心理的影响,提出了构筑关怀教育体系,提升自我维护能力,建立“立体管理”模式等防治对策。     

Learning on the job: Studying expertise in residential burglars using virtual environments*

In this article, we describe a quasi‐experiment in which experienced incarcerated burglars (n = 56), other offenders (n = 50), and nonoffenders (n = 55) undertook a mock burglary within a virtual neighborhood. We draw from the cognitive psychology literature on expertise and apply it to offending behavior, demonstrating synergy with rational choice perspectives, yet extending them in several respects. Our principal goal was to carry out the first robust test of expertise in offenders by having these groups undertake a burglary in a fully fledged reenactment of a crime in a virtual environment. Our findings indicate that the virtual environment successfully reinstated the context of the crime showing clear differences in the decision making of burglars compared with other groups in ways commensurate with expertise in other behavioral domains. Specifically, burglars scoped the neighborhood more thoroughly, spent more time in the high‐value areas of the crime scene while traveling less distance there, and targeted different goods from the comparison groups. The level of detail in the data generated sheds new light on the cognitive processes and actions of burglars and how they “learn on the job.” Implications for criminal decision‐making perspectives and psychological theories of expertise are discussed.     

Integration period of e-learning in universities： A survey in Turkey

E-learning is an important subject for successful university education. It is known that during the integration period of e-learning, universities face difficulties and trade-offs that will discourage their adoption. This study concentrates on e-learning with benefits and problems faced throughout the integration period by stakeholders and finally the university as a new education program method. The study aims to look at the factors which affect the integration period of e-learning programs and measure the drivers that affect the adoption process The research method is based on quantitative analysis which generally searches information about the factors＇ effectiveness related to the integration level of e-learning. During the empirical analysis, factors are categorized and measured according to their effectiveness, and then questionnaire study has examined the factors＇ effectiveness related to the adoption success of e-learning by using statistical analysis methods. The information about the factors that is effective for e-learning integration provides considerable educational framework for universities, instructors, students and also for information technology experts and other decision makers that manage the electronic environment for e-learning.     

对"网络虚拟财产"问题的法律思考

互联网技术迅猛发展,也为娱乐业带来了新的发展机遇和空间,网络游戏业快速发展的同时,也凸现"网络虚拟财产"法律保护问题,立足于"网络虚拟财产"问题的提出、概念、特点以及我国对此问题的法律保护现状等几个方面,呼吁"网络虚拟财产"的保护已经迫在眉睫.     

Parliamentary ethics regulation and trust in European democracies

This article presents a three-dimensional conceptualisation of conflict of interest (COI) regulation directed towards assuring the impartial and unbiased decision-making of parliamentarians. It distinguishes and separately measures (based on a new dataset) COI strictness, sanctions and transparency and shows that they indeed constitute empirically separate dimensions of parliamentary ethics regimes adopted in European democracies. In order to illustrate the usefulness of these indices, the article then examines the relationship between the three indices and trust in national parliaments across 25 democracies. Unlike the Sanctions and Transparency indices, the COI Strictness Index (composed of strictness of rules and enforcement) has a significant and robust negative association with trust, which highlights the importance of disentangling different elements of COI regimes. While future research has to explore the causal relationships between COI regulation and trust, capturing the complexity of COI regimes in an unbiased fashion and thereby making them comparable across European democracies is an essential step towards doing so.     

论虚拟财产的刑法保护

随着网络游戏产业的迅速发展,因虚拟财产发生的纠纷也日益增多,对于虚拟财产所引发的社会关系争议急需相关法律加以规制。目前我国对虚拟财产的保护没有明确的法律规定,在各种保护手段中,刑法的保护手段应该作为重要手段之一。文章阐述了虚拟财产刑法保护的必要性和可行性,提出了构建虚拟财产刑法保护的立法建议,从而使广大的网络游戏玩家的合法权益能得到法律的有效保护,进而使我国的网络游戏产业能得到更广阔的发展空间。
