正Dancing is one of the earliest forms of arts born in the long history of human beings.As a creative dancer,I personally hold that the greatest charm of dancing is that you could use your body language to the largest extent to truly express your thoughts,emotions and insights,so as to strive to achieve genuine communication that transcends languages and writing between the dancers and the audience.

The impact of the principles of evidence interpretation on the structure and content of statements

The Forensic Science Service (FSS) has devoted appreciable effort to developing the application of the principles of evidence interpretation. Much of the work has been reported in previous papers in this journal, in particular those that develop a model for Case Assessment and Interpretation (CAI). The principles of interpretation are restated and the implications for structure and content of statements are described.     

From the Subject of Evil to the Evil Subject: “Cultural Difference” in Postapartheid South African Crime Fiction

This article takes up the question of “crime writing” and rejoins the debate around whether such literature stands in for the “political novel” in postapartheid South Africa. What social function might crime writing be serving? Research by political economists and cultural anthropologists suggests that acts of writing in “social detection” mode (rather than “crime writing”) serve as an allegory for occulted sociopolitical conditions. Cultural difference is seen, once again, to play a pivotal role in the legitimation of power, and writers in the detection mode are correspondingly seen to be probing the possibility of a resurgence of “bad” difference. This notion, it is argued, is a key differentiator in an otherwise murky scene in which the borderline between licit and illicit, and right and wrong, has become obscure. While many South African writers are brought into the discussion, including but not restricted to crime authors, a key novel by leading crime writer Deon Meyer is read as a case study to illustrate the more general points made in the article.     

‘Colonizin’ in reverse

Abstract

This is a revised version of a paper presented on 22 June 2006 by Kenneth Parker at The English Academy of Southern Africa, University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg, on the occasion of the presentation of a Gold Medal to Professor Colin Gardner for distinguished service to English. The paper takes a tongue-in-cheek look at ‘Britishness’ and conforming to British standards – including what the British saw as the ‘way forward for the English language’. It shows how the erstwhile ‘colonized’, and more particularly their British-born descendants, have been doing some ‘colonizin’ of their own.

老年笔迹特征相对特异,较正常笔迹书写特征有明显差异,而与临摹笔迹和病理笔迹特征在一定程度上存在相似性,容易导致鉴定结论错误。因此,鉴定人在分析检验老年笔迹时,应合理分析老年笔迹特征和其他类型笔迹特征的异同点。另外,鉴定人在检验中要充分分析检材特征,结合案情掌握大量高质量的比对样本,作出正确判断。

An Impasse of Reconciliation in Guo Shaoyu’s Theory “Writing as a Vehicle of Values”

As the founder of the basic research paradigm on “writing as a vehicle of Values” in modern China, Guo Shaoyu established a tri-partite notion consisting of “writing to conform to values”, “writing as a vehicle of values” and “writing to illustrate values”, and this practice has influenced several generations of scholars. However, his approach, which draws heavily on Western literary theory, cannot reveal the original meaning of “writing as a vehicle of values” due to its failure to consider its features and the fact that this notion came into being as a result of “literature miscellaneous”. It is necessary to return to the notion on the ontological level so as to better understand the uniqueness of classical Chinese ideology resulting from China experience which, in turn, is made possible only by Chinese actualities.
