Modernization theory and the Cold War

In this article the structural, political and intellectual context in which a specific discourse of development emerged is examined. In the context of the Cold War, the prolonged effort of American intellectuals in advising and attempting to redirect the process of development in India and its consequences for a particular version of modernization theory is analyzed. A general sociology of knowledge approach is deployed to examine the complex configuration of events that contributed to a specific discoursed that owes its intellectual lineage to the Comtean vision of social science.     

国际海底区域生物资源法律属性探析

国际海底区域生物资源具有极高的科研价值和商业价值,但作为晚近发现的资源,现有的国际法尚未对其法律属性做出明确规定。国际社会基于各自利益考量,形成了两种截然不同的主张。从各国的争议出发,分析公海自由原则和人类共同继承财产原则的历史发展和内容,并结合国际海底区域生物资源本身的特征,对该资源的法律属性进行论证,同时为中国如何应对该资源的开发提出建议,以期在该资源开发利用争夺战中,取得与中国地位相符的一席之地。     

Forensic Comparison of Soil Samples Using Nondestructive Elemental Analysis

Soil can play an important role in forensic cases in linking suspects or objects to a crime scene by comparing samples from the crime scene with samples derived from items. This study uses an adapted ED‐XRF analysis (sieving instead of grinding to prevent destruction of microfossils) to produce elemental composition data of 20 elements. Different data processing techniques and statistical distances were evaluated using data from 50 samples and the log‐LR cost (C_llr). The best performing combination, Canberra distance, relative data, and square root values, is used to construct a discriminative model. Examples of the spatial resolution of the method in crime scenes are shown for three locations, and sampling strategy is discussed. Twelve test cases were analyzed, and results showed that the method is applicable. The study shows how the combination of an analysis technique, a database, and a discriminative model can be used to compare multiple soil samples quickly.     

世界主要国家和地区土壤污染防治基本制度比较研究

虽然世界主要国家的经济发展状况、土壤污染状况、技术水平、法制传统、环境管理体制等诸多方面都存在着很大的差异,但是关于土壤污染防治基本制度,还是存在着很多相同或类似的制度设计。这些相近相似的规定,恰恰反映了土壤污染防治的规律,值得我国借鉴。这些具有共性和典型意义的基本制度有：土壤污染监测制度、土壤污染调查制度、土壤污染管制区制度、污染土壤管制制度、污染土壤修复和整治制度、土壤污染防治相关专门机构制度、土壤污染整治基金制度、土壤污染登记制度、土壤污染信息披露制度、土壤污染责任制度等。     

Bioinformatics Approach to Assess the Biogeographical Patterns of Soil Communities: The Utility for Soil Provenance,

Soil DNA profiling has potential as a forensic tool to establish a link between soil collected at a crime scene and soil recovered from a suspect. However, a quantitative measure is needed to investigate the spatial/temporal variability across multiple scales prior to their application in forensic science. In this study, soil DNA profiles across Miami‐Dade, FL, were generated using length heterogeneity PCR to target four taxa. The objectives of this study were to (i) assess the biogeographical patterns of soils to determine whether soil biota is spatially correlated with geographic location and (ii) evaluate five machine learning algorithms for their predictive ability to recognize biotic patterns which could accurately classify soils at different spatial scales regardless of seasonal collection. Results demonstrate that soil communities have unique patterns and are spatially autocorrelated. Bioinformatic algorithms could accurately classify soils across all scales with Random Forest significantly outperforming all other algorithms regardless of spatial level.

人与社会存在的固有事实与本来逻辑显示,内含秩序与正义两大终极价值的法律与人的生活场景紧密结合在一起.法律的存在也是一个过程,具有断裂的可能性.人的生活场景是由自然性的物质世界、社会性的物质世界、文化世界、关系世界构成的统一体,决定着法律的生成、运作与进化;法律也不断地解释着人的生活场景,法律的生命在解释的过程中体现出来.在此过程中,法律必须具有深厚的亲和力.     

The Effects of Soil Environment on Postmortem Interval: A Macroscopic Analysis

Abstract:  Burial environment, in particular soil moisture, has a significant impact on the type, rate, and extent of bone degradation, which ultimately affects estimations of the postmortem interval (PMI). The purpose of this research is to determine the effects of soil moisture on the color, weight, condition, and texture of bone as it relates to the PMI. Bone changes occurring over two different time intervals (2 and 5 months) were examined using 120 sus scrofa leg bones. During each time interval bones were buried in two soil environments, one of which was drier than the other. The bones in both environments lost weight over time but the net weight loss was greater for bones in the higher moisture environment. There was no change in color, texture, or overall condition, indicating that 150 days is not long enough for such alterations to occur, regardless of the moisture level of the burial environment.     

石台县虎杖药材及其根际土壤中硒及重金属元素含量检测与相关性分析

目的 测定石台县虎杖药材及其根际土壤中Se和重金属Pb、Cd、As、Hg、Cu的含量,并对其相关性进行分析。方法 采用电感耦合等离子体质谱技术测定Se和重金属Pb、Cd、As、Hg、Cu的含量,并对其相关性进行分析。结果 石台县7个乡镇虎杖药材中Se、As、Cu、Cd、Pb、Hg的平均含量分别为0.59、0.32、7.42、0.12、1.38、0.005 mg/kg;根际土壤中Se、As、Cu、Cd、Pb、Hg的平均含量分别为2.34、65.77、44.65、0.95、111.61、0.22 mg/kg。结论 石台县虎杖药材及其根际土壤皆达富硒水平,且虎杖药材与其根际土壤中硒含量呈正相关;但虎杖药材与其根际土壤中As、Cu、Cd、Pb、Hg等重金属元素的含量不具相关性;石台县7个乡镇虎杖药材重金属含量均低于国家限量标准,具有较高的安全性。
