回归人文、造福民生的新型城镇化

城镇化究其实质是人文范畴即人的城镇化。一味寻求空间拓展的城镇化,不仅群众利益受到伤害,还带来资源难以为继、环境难以承受,城镇自身发展也会日益显现疲惫态势。中央提出走新型城镇化道路,就是要让城镇化回归人文并促进民生的持续改善,惟有如此才能圆好农民的城市梦,进而实现中国梦。     

Leadership Through A Gender Lens: How Cultural Environments and Theoretical Perspectives Interact with Gender

The purpose of this article is to present a theoretical overview of what makes a leader effective using the theoretical lenses of behavioral and contingency theories and the theory of transformational leadership. We then analyze these theories from a gender perspective. The presence and effects of gender discrimination in the workplace, managerial and subordinate preconceptions and attitudes as identified in the current body of literature and the possible consequences for potential female leaders are discussed. Finally, the article turns to discuss the interaction between national and organizational culture and gender in terms of leadership opportunities. The aim of this article is to contribute to the discussion on the above areas and to provide a bringing together of perspectives so as to facilitate future research. This is a review article where we theoretically examine the gender context in leadership theory and practice with some illustrations from observation and experience.     

Deepwater or Troubled Water? Principal–Agent Theory and Performance-Based Contracting in the Coast Guard’s Deepwater Modernization Program

In the mid-1990s, the United States Coast Guard began planning a modernization effort known as the Deepwater program to replace an aging inventory of cutters, aircraft, and small boats. This effort involved a consortium of corporations to develop a “system of systems” to meet performance-based requirements and build the new equipment. This article examines the Deepwater program through the lens of multilayered principal–agent theory and evaluates the performance-based contracting (PBC) method used to alleviate strains linked to accountability from the principal–agent relationship. The findings help better understand the dilemmas prescribed from multilayered principal–agent theory and PBC by illustrating the accountability issues faced by smaller organizations when engaging in complex, large-scale procurement.     

元代江南多族士人圈的地域特色

There appeared multi-ethnic circles of literati in Yuan Dynasty founded by Mongolia nationality . The paper analyzes the characteristics of multi-ethnic circles of literati in regions south of Yangtze River: compared with circles of scholars in Khankaliq, there were more tours and banquets, more retired officials and monks in the circles of literati; in the late Yuan the non Han Nationality scholars mourned and acknowledged patriotic literati. Under the influence of South Yangtze River culture, the literati were more and more elegant. The ethnic character, national psychology and nationality religion which were presented by the scholars of the minority nationality, also imported the diverse and inclusive South Yangtze River culture, and added new color to it.     

The Social Life of Things and the Methodology of Material Culture Studies

Commodity is the key subject of material culture studies. In the1980s, scholars in the field of cultural anthropology started discussing the social life of things and the cultural biography of things, and tracing the path of things in society and culture: “commoditization/de-commoditization/re-commoditization”. Different values of things have been produced in the process of commoditization. Unceasing change of value means things as agencies are deeply involved in the cultural orders and people’s social life, thereby developing the politics of value. Studies on the social life of things, led by Arjun Appadurai and Igor Kopytoff,embody not merely the positivity and activity of things, but also a kind of symbiosis between people and things. What is more, they offer a new approach to material culture studies.     

Culture Governance: Theoretical Innovation and Practice Logic of Community Culture Construction——Based on the Analysis of C Community Experience

Recently, the academia popularly advocates the multi－component model of community culture construction. However, in this mode, the dominant role of residents is not prioritized. There still exist a series of problems such as low rate of residential participation. This paper provides well－reasoned solutions to these problems according to the practical experience of the community culture construction in Community C. Besides, this thesis proposes that the dominant role of residents should be brought into play in the community culture construction and help residents to achieve “culture governance”.     

关于风化犯罪立法的完善——以东南亚3国与中国的立法比较为视角

本文通过对东南亚国家中具有代表性的泰国、越南、新加坡3国与中国关于妨害风化犯罪的立法比较,发现其各自不同的法律特色;东南亚国家与我国在法律文化上有诸多共性,这对我国法律的完善具有极大的参考价值。     

美国少年历史小说题材创作

历史小说是美国少年小说的一个重要类型。自20世纪30年代以后,反映少年生活的历史小说在美国不断问世,并于60、70年代进入繁荣阶段。本文旨在通过梳理美国少年历史小说的发展脉络,探讨其潮流及特点,如发展阶段、文化内涵、审美价值观等,说明其文学成就与影响,同时加深我国对美国少年历史小说的了解和研究。     

Thematics of counterterrorism: comparing 24 and MI-5/Spooks

This paper examines terrorism and counterterrorism as they are manifest in the popular culture of the USA and UK, focusing on two contemporary televisual works, namely, 24 and the series named MI-5 when aired in the US or Spooks when broadcast in the UK. I compare similarities and differences in the representation of agents (individuals) and agencies (organisations) involved in counterterrorism, and how such representations impact upon the two democratic polities. I explore themes of legitimisation, normalisation, and subversion in these works.
