新的四级网考特点及公安院校英语教学对策

自2007年大学英语四、六级考试委员会开始酝酿的网考,2008年在部分高校的学生中开始实施。文章详细介绍了新的大学英语四级网考的特点,并针对公安院校学员容易出现的问题,提出了提高学员的英语听力和口语能力的具体方法,以便更好地适应新的大学英语四级网考。     

教学实践中英语听力困难学生转变的策略研究

在学习英语语言“听、说、读、写”四项技能中,听力理解是英语学习中一门重要的专业主干课程,它对整个英语学习具有促进作用。然而在每年入学的大一新生中,总有一部分英语听力困难学生。从观察、分析听力困难学生所存在问题及形成的原因着手,并通过测试的实证研究,找出问题的症结所在。针对这些问题与困难,在教学实践中采取一系列具体的相应对策,从而使英语听力困难学生的转变取得了令人满意的效果。     

我国英语专业口语测试现状的理论分析

口试在中国外语界起步晚。滞后的原因是测试效度难以保证。此外,客观上,适合于大规模的口试任务本身的设计也有很多难度。当前,英语专业四、八级口语(口译)测试实践存在着一些值得商讨的方面,其中,核心问题是测试效度。对口试性质和特征的正确把握至关重要,它将涉及到我们对试题设计、考试形式、评分标准等一系列因素的考虑。在评分标准上,口语评价的标准不是完全看语法、语音,而是要看交际效果和交际效率,应以语言交际的衡量指标如流利性、准确性和得体性、语音及语言交互能力和交际策略等来决定。以录像口试代替录音口试或直接面试是一种较好的解决办法。通过录像,考官不但可以评定考生的言语交际能力,还可以观察到考生语言以外的非言语交际,打分更合理、全面。除了分数或等级外,口语测试的结果应该提供对学生英语交际能力主要方面的详细描述与测评,这样学生可以有针对性地练习提高,老师可以确定调整口语教学的重点,社会用人单位也可以根据这些详述挑选人才。     

英文版《中医体质量表》的初步编译

目的编译英文版《中医体质量表》,并将其作为体质测评工具在亚裔人群之外推广使用。方法按照跨文化外文量表编制的标准化程序,将中文版《中医体质量表》进行顺翻译,以顺翻译完成的问卷对在北京居住的美加籍高加索人作为受访对象进行初试,并采用Likert五分制判定受试者对英文版《中医体质量表》条目的理解程度。根据初试结果将问卷进行修订,最后逆翻译并重新修订。结果在60名受访者中,认为对初译的英文版《中医体质量表》完全理解的占88.33%。原中文版《中医体质量表》的60个条目中,44条经顺翻译确定,16条经初试、修订和回译进行修改,初步形成英文版《中医体质量表》。结论《中医体质量表》的跨文化编译需要不同文化背景的专业人士参与,既需要遵循量表编制的原则,更需要关注不同文化之间的通约问题。英文版《中医体质量表》的初步编译,为进一步在欧美人中开展大样本中医体质调查提供了研究工具。

区别于传统的教学模式,词块教学法在改善语言使用的连贯性、地道性、流畅性方面具有一定的优势.通过阶段性的课堂教学的行动研究,调查了解了学生的词块掌握能力;通过教学活动的不断调整和改进,试图寻找一种更有效的方法来提高学生的词块意识及其在写作中的词块运用能力.

Lesbian,Gay and Bisexual Populations: The Role of English Local Government

Abstract

The role of local government has recently come under debate, in the context of state retrenchment, public sector cuts and the marketisation of welfare. Recent discussions have centred on local authorities as leaders, on enterprise and on democracy, but there has been little discussion of local authorities in relation to equalities issues and minority groups. This article examines the role of local government in relation to one minority grouping, Lesbian, Gay and Bisexual (LGB) people, drawing on empirical material gathered from 2007 to 2010 as part of a large Economic and Social Research Council research project. It describes the importance of equalities legislation and related implementation mechanisms in driving forward the LGB equalities agenda, explores aspects of welfare delivery to LGB people and addresses democratic processes. The article suggests that a collision of different forces is currently taking place: the legislation supports the protection of the LGB communities, but this support is undermined by the recession-related and ideologically driven public sector cuts. In addition, aggregate approaches to local democracy may override the interests of minority groups such as LGB people.     

An analysis of police traffic stops and searches in Kentucky: a mixed methods approach offering heuristic and practical implications

Is race a significant predictor of being searched by the police? Is race a significant predictor of having positive search results during traffic stop? We address these two questions by analyzing traffic stop data (n > 93,000) collected by two state and 24 local police agencies in a single state during the 2001 calendar year. Our findings show that race does correlate with a fruitful traffic stop but not in the manner that may be commonly thought. To supplement and better contextualize our quantitative findings, an exploratory study was then designed that used the focus group interviewing technique with groups of officers from five of the participating agencies to explore their perceptions of (1) traffic stops and searches and (2) public allegations of racial profiling and bias-based policing. The findings from this qualitative phase of the study highlighted the officers’ perceived role as community problem solvers “who profile problems and not people.” In tandem, this mixed-method approach was instrumental in advancing our knowledge of both the patterns and results from related searches, in addition to better contextualizing the underlying perceptions of officers regarding the use of race in “solving” community problems. The results from this combination of methodological approaches offer important heuristic and practical implications.     

关于公安机关应对计算机犯罪的系统思考

面对日益蔓延的计算机违法犯罪 ,从公安机关的专属管理职能和业务角度出发 ,公安机关应当制定专门的反计算机犯罪法 ,完善现行刑法典中的计算机犯罪惩治条款 ,完善现行行政法规 ,在《治安管理处罚条例》中增加对计算机违法行为的惩治 ,改变传统公安业务规则。公安机关惩治计算机犯罪的应对机制包括 :培训及招聘反计算机犯罪的专业技术警察 ;成立专门的反计算机犯罪领导或者协调机构 ;建立计算机犯罪的前科数据库。在反计算机犯罪警务国际合作方面 ,应建立健全惩治计算机犯罪的国际合作体系 ;建立反计算机犯罪的国际信息交流与技术支援机制。此外 ,还应加强对计算机犯罪的理论研讨 ;培养正确的计算机道德 ;加强计算机安全技术研究 ,建立反计算机犯罪的对策体系 ;考虑组建民间性的反计算机犯罪协会。
