Finding Identity in Family Work

SUMMARY

The family has always enjoyed an elevated status in Ireland, yet it was not until the mid-1990s that family-based intervention work really found expression in a new division of child and youth care: community child care-workers. This paper introduces readers to an area of child and youth care work in Ireland devoted to an ecological understanding of the child “at risk” and working with the child and the child's family outside of a residential or institutional setting. The paper includes a brief interview with a community child care-worker, observations from a master's student in social care who has also worked in community child care, and concludes by reviewing 12 key areas community child care-workers must address if their status is to be secured in the Irish child and     

Natural Law: Practical Reason and Creative Information

With nine main theses that are interspersed with each other, this paper explores and articulates some of the most important questions in natural law theory. The theses include: I. In investigating facts, one finds reasons to choose an honest self-discipline; II. Deliberating, one finds reasons similarly directing one to other intrinsic goods; III. Taken integrally, these goods and principles acquire the force of moral precepts; IV. Those precepts, natural moral law, depict our nature (humanity) in its flourishing; V. Nature and natures are best explained by free, intelligent transcendent creation; VI. Creation and other gifts past and present deserve our gratitude; VII. Natural moral law and historical revelation are two channels of information; VIII. Secular and spiritual communities are distinct and respectfully self-governing; IX. Natural moral law defines human rights but rightfully extends beyond them.     

The consequences of supply gaps in two-dimensional policy spaces for voter turnout and political support: The case of economically left-wing and culturally right-wing citizens in Western Europe

Parties with left-wing positions on economic issues and right-wing (i.e., authoritarian) positions on cultural issues have been historically largely absent from the supply side of the policy space of Western European democracies. Yet, many citizens hold such left-authoritarian issue attitudes. This article addresses the hypotheses that left-authoritarian citizens are less likely to vote, less satisfied with the democratic process and have lower levels of political trust when there is a left-authoritarian supply gap. Using data for 14 Western European countries from the European Social Survey 2008 in the main analysis, it is shown that left-authoritarians are less likely to vote and exhibit lower levels of satisfaction with democracy and political trust. A supplementary analysis of national election studies from Finland before and after the electoral breakthrough of the left-authoritarian True Finns Party in 2011 indicates that whether left-authoritarians participate less and believe less in the efficacy of voting is contingent on the presence of a strong left-authoritarian party. This study illuminates how constrained party supply in a two-dimensional policy space can affect voter turnout as well as political support, and has broader implications for the potential further rise of left-authoritarian challenger parties.

"实用理性"——对中国传统文化"实践理性"误解的辩驳

对于中国传统文化,理论界有一种倾向是以康德的"实践理性"对其进行解释,但中国传统文化有其自身的成长土壤,"实践理性"不足以作出恰当的诠释。本文力争从中国传统文化的传承中找到其确切的界定,从中国传统文化的形成背景中寻找"实用理性"的因素;并通过对比分析"实用理性"、"实践理性"对中国传统文化的诠释,证明"实用理性"是中国传统思想在自身性格上所具有的特色。

《日本国籍法》对在日朝鲜人的作用

2010年是签订"日韩合并条约"一百周年。在"日韩合并"到二战结束之后的这一段历史时期,日本根据"日韩合并条约"和"法务省民事局局长通报"先后两次剥夺了朝鲜人的国籍,进行了人权侵害。21世纪前后,《日本国籍法》的两次修改在一定程度上保障了在日朝鲜人的人格和权益。     

日本增加农民收入的途径及启示

农业在国民经济中处于基础地位,增加农民收入是刺激农村消费需求、提高农村购买力、扩大内需的重要途径。日本在增加农民收入方面的成功经验主要包括政府的大力扶持、农业经营模式的完善、全方位的科技研发推广及积极推动城乡互动发展等。从日本经验的总结中我们可以得出一些有益的启示：建立完备的法律法规;完善农民合作经济组织体系;加大政府对农业的补贴及政策倾斜;灵活运用WTO的相关规定和原则;加强农业科技开发的推广和劳动者素质的提高;实现城乡互动发展。     

中国特色社会主义的理论渊源与实践基础

中国特色社会主义理论的形成与发展,既有其理论渊源,也有其实践基础。前者主要是指马克思恩格斯创立的科学社会主义,其对中国特色社会主义理论的形成与发展起着思想先导和理论基础作用;后者主要是指改革开放后的社会主义建设实践,其对中国特色社会主义理论的形成与发展起着实践检验与推动作用。文章从发展生产力是社会主义的根本任务、社会主义初级阶段基本经济制度等六个方面对此进行了阐述,认为中国特色社会主义理论体系是抽象的＂科学社会主义＂与具体的＂实际和时代特征＂相结合并被＂置于现实的基础之上＂后形成的科学理论。
