Movable pillars: Organizing dance 1956–1978, by Katja Kolcio

This essay frames an original mad lib representing a conversation between two friends about romance novels. The author attempts to locate a path to feminism in romance-novel culture in the communities built around a commonality of shame wrought by reading these books. She argues that this shame both draws readers together and undermines the explicit goals of the mainstream romance publishing industry. She asks readers to join in by completing the included mad lib with a friend.     

“Yours for Socialism”: Communist Cultural Discourse in Early Apartheid South Africa

This paper explores the diversity of cultural debates which constellated around the Communist Party in South Africa in the late segregationist and early apartheid periods. It traces the textual remains of an itinerant public debate––dispersed in periodical reviews, magazine articles, journalistic tit-bits and other ephemeral public sphere activities such as debating societies, theater groups and discussion clubs––with a view to complicating and expanding the South African literary-cultural archive. Of particular importance are the practices and protocols of reading, cultural critique and interpretation that characterized the intellectual-political field––or public sphere––which we name the Communist Party. In this way, a fragmented cultural discussion is provisionally reconstituted or “invented” as an important South African tradition and reclaimed as a significant intellectual inheritance. The project thus bears on broader question of reading the past and attempts to negotiate an historical split between uncritical nostalgia and the will to transcend.     

法科学生读书与思考之方法探析

法科学生若想在走出校门之时成为一个具有扎实法学理论功底的饱学之士,以便为将来的法学实践和理论研究工作奠定良好的基础,听老师讲课固然是一种学习的方法,但最重要的还是学生们要掌握一套读书与思考的方法,并能将读书与思考有机结合.只有这样,学生们才能实现对法学研习的博与精的完美统一,才能最终建立起"属于自己的法学理论体系".     

读律生涯:清代刑部官员的职业素养

虽然清代中国缺乏近代西方那种"职业"的法律专家,但是就刑部官员而言,由于他们享有广泛的司法职能,不但占居着司法机构的顶层地位,而且发挥着司法实践的枢纽作用,因此对法律知识也颇为重视。从诗文、传记、墓志等资料中可以发现,清代中国的刑部官员与读律的关系确实非常密切。刑部衙门有着相当浓厚的法律阅读氛围,官员之间商榷法律问题、合作编撰法律书籍之事,亦不乏记载。刑部官员不但具有丰富扎实的法律知识,而且法律阅读的态度比较积极,动机也比较正当,甚至还形成了较为有效的阅读方法。总体而言,清代中国的刑部官员保持了对法律阅读的极大热情,也有相当精湛的法律素养。正是这种素养,使刑部官员基本上胜任了他们肩负的修律和司法使命。     

论被追诉人本人的阅卷权

刑事诉讼中被追诉人本人能否行使阅卷权,因关系"发现真实"与"被告作为程序主体"之间的冲突,而争议较大。目前向被追诉人本人开放一定程度的阅卷已成为现代法治发达国家刑事诉讼法的调整方向,我国在"固有权"理论下全面禁止被追诉人本人阅卷的立法与实务值得检讨。被追诉人作为程序主体,应享有阅卷权,尤其是对无辩护人的被追诉人,应赋予其本人直接阅卷的权利。但阅卷权对被追诉人开放所可能带来的制度风险,仍是不可忽视,因此,基于利益的权衡,应根据案件的具体情况对被追诉人本人的阅卷权进行合理限制。

随着现代社会不断信息化,图书馆已成为人们获取和交流知识信息的重要场所。高校图书馆工作者,只有了解和掌握读者不同的的阅读需求和心理特征,才能真正起到沟通读者与书刊资料的桥梁作用,使图书馆的丰富资源得以充分利用。     

英语新闻阅读在英语学习中的作用探析

英语新闻阅读是学习英语最有效的一种途径,其作用主要表现在以下四方面：（1）有助于英语学习者认清英语学习的目的;（2）有助于激发学习者学习英语的兴趣;（3）能够让学习者了解不同语言文化之间的差异;（4）对夯实英语学习者的英语基本功具有一定的引导作用。     

Contrasting psychosocial outcomes in Chinese delinquent adolescents with attention deficit and hyperactivity disorder symptoms and/or reading disability

Many studies reported high prevalence of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and reading disability (RD) among delinquent adolescents. Very few have examined their psychosocial outcomes. The present study compared the psychosocial outcomes and delinquency outcomes in Chinese juvenile delinquents with ADHD symptoms (AS) and/or RD. Delinquents with AS (n = 29), RD (n = 24) and their comorbidity (n = 35) were recruited from juvenile institutions along with typically developing controls (n = 29) from local schools; all completed questionnaire on psychosocial characteristics and delinquency outcomes. Participants with AS were associated with poor academic orientation whereas participants with RD were characterized with negative main effects across all psychosocial constructs being tested. The comorbid group performed similar to the RD group yet it exhibited a significantly higher delinquency severity. The present findings provide a better picture of the unique psychosocial profile associated with different groups, allowing for better matching for future identification and intervention programme.     

学术、学问与读书——写在《法律语言规范化研究》出版之际

北京政法职业学院法律语言应用研究所承担的司法部2006年度科研项目《法律语言规范化研究》,作为我国人文社科领域第一个研究法律语言规范化方面的课题,历时四载,艰苦研究,于2010年7月通过专家鉴定。文章结合课题研究过程阐述了学术、学问与读书三者之间的关系：学术靠学问,学问靠读书。

胡锦涛同志七一重要讲话强调了遵循规律提高党的建设科学化水平的问题。提高反腐倡廉建设科学化水平,同样必须深刻把握其规律性。这种深刻把握,就是要把握党的建设一般规律在反腐倡廉建设中的体现,就是要把握矛盾共性与个性相统一的规律,这是对反腐倡廉建设的一种更高要求。把握反腐倡廉建设规律,就要强化遵循规律的意识,提高把握规律的能力,健全遵循规律的制度,探索运用规律的方法。
