中国共产党对外交往简讯（9月16日-10月15日）

9月11-13日，应布隆迪保卫民主力量、乌干达全国抵抗运动、坦桑尼亚革命党邀请，中共中央书记处书记、中央纪委副书记何勇率中共代表团访问了上述三国，中联部副部长李进军，中共河北省委常委、省纪委书记臧胜业，中央纪委=中组部巡视工作组办公主任强卫东等陪同访问。     

尼雷尔及其遗产

尼雷尔是现代非洲历史上最杰出的政治家之一,他领导坦噶尼喀人民获得独立,确立了坦桑尼亚和平、稳定与联合的政治体制,并在经济与社会发展方面进行了有益探索.他对非洲民族解放事业做出了巨大贡献,为中坦友好合作关系奠定了坚实基础.尼雷尔一生俭朴清廉,待人诚恳,虽然在经济政策上出现失误,但仍得到坦桑人民的衷心爱戴和国际社会的广泛赞誉.他所留下的历史遗产将继续影响坦桑乃至整个非洲.     

COMPETITION PRESSURE AND AGRO-PROCESSING： FIRM LEVEL EVIDENCE FROM UGANDA, TANZANIA AND KENYA

It is clear from the literature that increasing competitive pressure triggers a range of-firm responses depending on the market structure. One of the potential responses is the introduction of new products as-firms strive to survive the product market competition pressure. In this paper, we check the plausibility of this assertion on the agro-processing sector in the three East African Community （EAC） countries of Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania. We exploit -firm level data from the Enterprise surveys conducted by the Worm Bank during 2006--07. The revelation from the data is that agro- processing firms in the three countries introduced new products in the face of heightened competitive pressure potentially driven by reforms undertaken since the mid 1990s.
